My condolences to the family , fond memories of her when I was in school with John , rest in peace.

My parents Harry and Narda’s, relationship with Margaret began when they first arrived in Canada. They were invited to live with Margaret and Pete as they settled into the new country. This strong bond lasted their life times, even through the deaths of Pete and Narda. My childhood memories are filled with frequent Sunday visits and Margaret’s wonderful baking. I personally think if was her who invented the Naniamo Bar (it should have been the Cloverdale Bar). She was the Martha Stewart of baking and crafts. She had a strong work ethic that made her an equal on the large family farm. I believe this is how she was able to maintain such a high level of fitness to enjoy her hiking in her retirement years. As we moved away and I had a family of my own, I saw less of her. The bond with my parents persisted. They made special efforts to visit for birthdays. My Dad turned 90 last February and I know she was not feeling well enough for the journey at the time, but she still sent a beautiful card and letter. She had a great sense of humor and always said what she thought. My fondest memory was when she told me at a very public event, what an ugly baby I was....... she was right:) She had a strong believe in God and I believe she was protected by guardian angels and St. Christopher himself, because she was a crazy driver. She remained a strong independent woman until just weeks before her death. That is how I will always remember her, STRONG AND INDEPENDENT.

Very sorry to hear of your mom's passing Marlies & John. I have very fond memories of her and the kindness she showed to our family over the years. She also brought a lot joy and fun to any family function she attended. She will be missed. I am unable to attend her funeral but my thoughts are with you.

Our condolences to Marlies and John and their Families.. We remember Margret when she would visit when my Mom and Dad were over from Holland! She and Leny would come over for coffee or lunch. One day Margret brought a large doll for our youngest Daughter and she had made a whole wardrobe with different outfits So little katrien was able to dress-up this doll to her hearts desire!! We still have this for our grand daughter to play with, when she comes over.. love Ton and Corine.

I can still see that wonderful lady riding on her bicycle...I said once to her unfortunately you never learned to drive..Well she certainly told me in so many words I DO..I have a truck..Oh I loved that woman and so did my mom who passed away in 2000..
