A director came to my house. She was lovely non-pushy to items to buy very friendly. Had a good conversation and I really liked her felt very comfortable with her. I would use this company again anytime. There was also a follow up later, checking in with me to see how I was doing, which was much appreciated.

Couldn't recommend this place more. We live in Richmond but have still picked this place each time. We've had 3 experiences in the last 2 years. Unfortunate for us however they have been the best and easy to work with and very reasonable in terms of prices. They have a lot of flexibility that allows us to customize what we need. Andre and the broader alternatives team are most highly recommended!

AJ and Kristi were so helpful and supportive in arranging the funeral arrangements for my loved one. They took care of basically everything and kept in good communication. They were very supportive and understanding about how difficult it is to suddenly lose a loved one and made the process as simple as possible for someone unable to see very clearly due to grief and shock. We used Alternatives for our mothers arrangements in 2016 on recommendation from our cousin. We also used Alternatives when our father passed as well in 2025. There were many fine options to choose from. Both were simple cremations and were very easy to arrange without being expensive and the staff there were great, with their care for filling our needs and our peace of mind being a top priority. They even delivered my father's ashes and paperwork right to my residence for convenience to me, which I greatly appreciated. They also followed up after and let us know there were grief support services available, should we need them.
My cousin has continued to use Alternatives for other family members and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to someone to use Alternatives services. Overall, for me, it was a good experience for such a somber occasion.

We found Alternatives when searching for a cremation service who would help us as we walked through the process of losing our baby through miscarriage a few months ago. I was surprised when calling a few different places at how some funeral homes wouldn't receive our baby since she wasn't full term, but Alternatives was incredibly compassionate, understanding, and willing to help. We are so thankful for the wonderful care we received and for the dignity we were treated with as we walked through our grief. I would highly recommend them.

Everyone here that worked with my family - Marivic, Annika, Elizabeth, and others behind the scenes - was so professional, knowledgeable, helpful and caring. Our meeting at Tim Horton’s with Annika (not the ideal place but we needed to have it here and made it work) to discuss the arrangements my mom had made was so informative, and final plans concerning the funeral mass and inurnment were made quickly with little waffling. Even though we were inundated with a lot of details (understandably so), we knew we were in good hands and encouraged to call with any questions or concerns, which were addressed in a timely manner. Mom looked so natural in her coffin, as if she were just sleeping. Moreover, her wishes were met with no problems. To my surprise, they even reached out to us about a month after her funeral to check how we were.
I would not hesitate to recommend Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services. You will not be disappointed.

It has been a couple of months since my mother passed and I finally have a moment of calm to write this review. I was so impressed with Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services. Right from the very first contact with them, they have been incredibly kind and helpful. They were quick to respond, even multiple times over the weekend to patiently help me through the process and answer my questions. Every staff member we encountered was so gentle and attentive and I truly felt that they cared. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Alternatives. The staff at Alternatives were extremely patient and accommodating to our needs at the time of my brother's passing away. I am from Ontario, and all the information was shared with me allowing me to make the arrangements from afar with guidance. When I encountered administrative challenges with obtaining the death certificate, Annika, my contact person, advocated on my behalf to get the issue settled and allowed me to get all the appropriate documents. I particularly appreciated the efficient process of getting the cremated remains sent to me in Ontario, with multiple options given to me. For sure, the details on the website were helpful, but it was the gentle and kind advice over the phone, which is what stood out for me at that difficult time.

Alternatives have been a pleasure to work with in a time of high stress and emotion. They were kind and calm in all their correspondence. Their website is straight forward, the process other than that was seamless and they are so professional and caring.
Only call out is that their window for delivering the remains (if having done cremation) is a very small specific window so if you are a child of a parent and working it’s difficult to navigate.

My mom was fast tracked for MAiD and I called Alternatives on the Saturday before her Monday procedure. They had everything in place to take her to UBC’s body donation program, walked us through what we needed to do and have followed up to see how we are doing. We used Alternatives Funeral for my Dad’s passing. All the staff were extremely kind and professional. Martin met with us at our home and explained and answered all our questions compassionately and efficiently. They even came to the house to pick up my Dads clothing which would have been very difficult and emotional for us to drop off. The collection of my mom after she passed was not good. After speaking with Annika I understand that the collection process is done with 3 rd party services.
After the collection process the service I received was top notch. Annika was very sensitive to my grief and moved through the process with patience and compassion. She gave me very informative advice on navigating the notifications of my mom’s death. It helped me and made the notifications go smoothly.
The collection of my mom’s ashes was also done with compassion and sensitivity.
This was the only place that followed through with after care for myself.
Elizabeth was great in reaching out to check if I was okay.
I would have given 5 stars if the 3rd parties were as competent as the funeral home.
I still highly recommend this funeral service

These caring ladies helped us after our son went to rest. Anika came to our home - explained what's next and loved on us as she guided us making all the final arrangements for Chris. When he passed, they came and took him into their care with dignity.. followed through with his cremation, and delivered his ashes and documents to us.

My brother passed away in B C while his whole family are in Ontario. Alternatives helped us out. Everyone was so nice and they made all the arrangements. Elizabeth and Kristi made sure every detail was done. They even were able to have my brother's ashes sent to his friends who wanted to celebrate his life there in B C. It was a sad occasion due to my brother's death being sudden and unexpected but Alternative made everything work smoothly. I would recommend them is ever you need this kind of service.

My husband passed away but had donated his body to UBC. UBC has arrangements with this company and I could not have been happier with the service I received. From the moment I was in contact with them, I was met with only care and kindness. We were able to arrange a viewing quickly and during our visit, we were treated very compassionately as well as being told exactly what to expect. After the cremation, we waited only 3 or 4 days and the official certificates were hand delivered to us - all the way from Langley to Vancouver. This company comes very highly recommended.

In a time of immense sorrow and need, our experience with the alternative funeral and cremation services at this establishment was truly exceptional. Led by the outstanding funeral director John, alongside his remarkable representatives Andrea and Parth, every moment spent with them shone with dedication and compassion.
From the very first interaction, it was evident that their customer service extended far beyond expectations, especially as we were dealing with the loss of a loved one there and we are from out of town. Out of the blue, mom was diagnosed with st. 4 cancer. Made arrangements ahead of time with Annika and she was such a big help in guiding us through this hard process. After notifing Alternatives Funeral Sevices in Aldergrove of my mothers passing at around 11pm; they gave us some time with her until they arrived at 1ish in the morning. Went above and beyond the expected service and the purple urn suggested is perfect.

Loosing our mom so very suddenly was the worst thing to happen to us. We choose Alternatives funeral and cremation as my dad liked that she went straight there and was taken care of there for her cremation. The team there was lovely to us through the whole process. They came to our house to do the paperwork and dropped off our mom’s ashes to us. From start to finish it was wonderful. The team has also followed up with us to see how we are doing

After making a few calls around the city to other homes, it was quickly clear that Alternatives was the right choice for us. They definitely have the most reasonable pricing of all the places I called in Regina & Moose Jaw.
