My husband was terminally ill with cancer. We had hoped that chemotherapy would help him survive longer but he was becoming progressively weaker and suffering from more pain. I registered with Alternative Cremations as we had decided long ago that cremation would be our choice. We had also established that DNR was necessary with his diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. My husband was admitted to Cascade Hospice Chilliwack. An absolutely wonderful place for a terminally ill person and their family. After a few weeks my husband passed quietly in his sleep. The staff contacted Alternative Cremations and they took care of everything from that point forward. I was able to notify my family and return home to grieve and not worry about any other details. I knew Alternative Cremations would take care of everything from that point on.

Requested keepsakes and did not get them You chose to believe the mother over the father, when he lived with his father and grandmother who actually had legal custody. He was an adult so I understand custody doesn’t matter but a fathers rights should matter as much as a mothers rights.

We used Alternatives for our mothers arrangements in 2016 on recommendation from our cousin. We also used Alternatives when our father passed as well in 2025. There were many fine options to choose from. Both were simple cremations and were very easy to arrange without being expensive and the staff there were great, with their care for filling our needs and our peace of mind being a top priority. They even delivered my father's ashes and paperwork right to my residence for convenience to me, which I greatly appreciated. They also followed up after and let us know there were grief support services available, should we need them. My cousin has continued to use Alternatives for other family members and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to someone to use Alternatives services. Overall, for me, it was a good experience for such a somber occasion.

Everyone here that worked with my family - Marivic, Annika, Elizabeth, and others behind the scenes - was so professional, knowledgeable, helpful and caring. Our meeting at Tim Horton’s with Annika (not the ideal place but we needed to have it here and made it work) to discuss the arrangements my mom had made was so informative, and final plans concerning the funeral mass and inurnment were made quickly with little waffling. Even though we were inundated with a lot of details (understandably so), we knew we were in good hands and encouraged to call with any questions or concerns, which were addressed in a timely manner. Mom looked so natural in her coffin, as if she were just sleeping. Moreover, her wishes were met with no problems. Alternatives has been there for us twice now that both of my parents have passed. They are kind, personal, and quick to respond to my texts and emails. I really liked using the online arrangements recently. It was easy to log in then follow clear, step-by-step instructions and move smoothly through the arrangements from start to finish. It was also easy stop and then return later to where I had left off. They were very accommodating to our wishes, for example, I had ordered a cremation urn elsewhere which we dropped off to them. After mom's memorial was over, they were still happy to answer my questions about applying for the CPP death benefit. They also have checked in at least twice to see how we're doing and if we needed any help. Even now I'm still using the Alternatives online arrangements to utilize all of the checklists, forms and useful information for executors. It's a very well designed site which stands out in a world of frustrating technology. I recommend using Alternatives to help anyone through such a difficult time.

I had made the necessary pre-arrangements with both Tyrel and Andre back in September 2022 for both my mom and myself. This is (sadly) the second time using their services. When I received the phone call, to hear from caregivers that my elderly loved one had passed away, I knew exactly whom to call. The young person who replied was able to help me navigate the primary bits of necessary information required by them and the care facility. Within a few hours there was a funeral director that oversaw the transfer on the body to the proper facilities. Alternatives made my dad's final arrangements a seamless experience. I called on a Sunday and was contacted the next day by them to go over any questions or concerns I may have with the process. There were a couple of hiccups following my dad's death in dealing with the cornor (nothing to do with Alternatives) but they made getting around everything smooth and were always available when I called. We opted for the simple cremation package as my dad did not wish to have a service. We were very thankful that there was no pushy sales people trying to upsell services or product. From start to finish, Ännika was absolutely amazing. When my mother went into hospice, I contacted Ännika to help us make all of the arrangements. Before mom even passed, we had the peace of mind of organizing her cremation, so that we wouldn't be stuck making important decisions in the throes of grief. When mom passed, someone came and transferred mom to the funeral home. It was done with such love and respect. Initially I had said I would plan moms celebration of life and once the time came to do so, I was lost. Her fee was more than fair and she worked so hard on our behalf. She arranged and organized everything for us in such an efficient and professional manner. The Memorial Society of BC referred me to Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services. The Director, Melissa, asked if I wanted someone to come in person to my home to discuss arrangements or if I preferred to do it on line. I chose to do it on line and it took me one hour to fill in all the paper work. They offered for me to either pick up the remains in person or to deliver to my home within 7-10 days. About 10 days later Henry came to my home to deliver the remains. I asked him to review the paperwork (original death certificate and the notarized copies, and there was an itemized invoice for the cost of every service). Henry gave me very useful advise about dealing with Service Canada and applying for the Death Benefit. I am eternally grateful that my Dad was a member of the Memorial Society of BC. It made tending to all the necessary arrangements effortless on my part. I feel that this was the final gift from my Dad to me.

Andreas and the staff at Alternatives Funeral Home were so very helpful, compassionate and so kind when my Father-in-law passed away in September 2021. When when my husband passed the following month, they did so much for us, and helped make the next stage a bit easier to navigate through, by answering so many questions from our family. I found the whole experience seamless. Loosing a loved is traumatic and you are numbed , unable to think clearly. I had made Funeral arrangements only months prior to my husband's death. Funny thing was I thought I was calling a different place when Gaymond came to sit with me and my family. Even tho we were thinking of going with another place he sat with us and gave us so much information and what to look and not at/for and gave us numbers and really supported our needs. After being in touch with the original place my daughter and I felt it was cold and we ere just another client not people so we ended up going with them. Gaymond was so much help and always there if we had anything to ask or do. This was the most difficult time of our lifes, I am greatfull for the help and caring support we got from them!
