Albert Elmer (Warren) Tannahill

It is with heavy hearts that we share the quiet passing of Warren Tannahill on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the age of 91 years. Warren ("Speedy”) to those that knew of his firefighting days was born on December 11, 1930 and raised in and around Lumsden, SK.

Warren had various jobs throughout his life, his last prior to retirement was with the Workers’ Compensation Board where he was a Rehabilitation Officer. Not surprising as “helping anyone in need” was what he did.

Warren enjoyed a wonderful retirement with Eleanor, the bulk of it living at the lake where he had built their home. Happy Hour, playing crib and working on multiple projects at a time kept him busy and active.

He will be remembered by all for his love of life, friendliness, generosity, laid back nature, his sense of humour, his intellect and interest in anything that needed fixing or building.

Warren was predeceased by his parents Claude and Leola, stepfather Arthur, and siblings Barry and Claudette. Warren is survived by Eleanor, his wife and partner of 68 years; children Rian (Loraine and grandchildren), Jeff (Carla and grandchildren), Charlene (Dean and grandchildren), Rod (Debbie – deceased) and grandson. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Allan and numerous family, friends, and acquaintances.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer of 2022 when it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice or simply buy a meal for someone that needs it.

My sincere condolences to the Tannahill family. I had the great occasion of meeting this gentleman approximately 55 years ago. I experienced an industrial accident at a farm implement manufacturing plant in Yorkton Sask. Warren was my rehab officer and I had the very greatest respect for him. He absolutely worked in my best interests. I was a young lad at the time and he encouraged me to enrol at the U of Regina. He had WCB assume some of my costs. Upon completion of my first year of university, Warren immediately found a great job for me. This fine soul "went above his call of duty" for me as a client. There have been many occasions, in the past 55 years, where I have thought of the absolute kindness of Warren. May he rest in eternal peace.

I worked with Warren at WCB in the late 70's. He was an absolute gentleman, a teacher, a joy to work with and a great story teller. He shared memorable many stories of his family who he loved dearly. I will remember him most for his quiet sense of humor. May God comfort his family during this sorrowful time.

To Eleanor and family, my deepest condolences on losing your husband, father and all around good friend to everyone. In the, some 65 years that I knew Warren, whenever we meet, be it funeral, wedding or whatever you always knew that it would be an interesting conversation. No BS, no criticism just good honest discussion, even when you knew that his health was deteriorating. May Warren rest in peace knowing that he will always be remembered.
