Bob Robertson passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 79. Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 52 years Arlene (who he always said that he saved from the sticks), his sons Reid (Cheryl) and Kyle (Nicky), grandkids Caitlyn, Ryan, and Kayla, and his sisters Eileen, Gail (Gary), and Debbie (Darrell). Bob was predeceased by his parents Reid and Gladys, stepfather Cliff Hart, his sister Linda Aalbers, father and mother-in-law Carl and Angeline Mohninger, brother-in-law Barry Miller, and sister-in-law Darlene Strueby.
Bob was born on October 30, 1942 in Central Butte, SK and raised on a farm. Bob’s dad passed away when he was 10 years old forcing him to be the “man of the house” at a very young age. At 18, Bob joined the Navy and served three years for our country. After completing his service, Bob got a job working on the Gardner Dam sparking his passion for construction. Shortly after, he started his 40+ year career in the house building industry starting out framing and finishing up with the New Home Warranty program. Bob made a lot of friends and contacts throughout his career developing a reputation of honesty, integrity, and respect. His word and handshake were golden. His handshake usually crushed the recipient as his hands matched his size. The only thing larger than Bob’s frame was his heart. He was always willing to help out without asking for anything in return.
In retirement, Bob and Arlene loved to travel when they could. Places like Hawaii, Mexico, and cruises were always something to look forward to. Bob could not stand around and do nothing. The last 5 years he was driving school bus for elementary kids. It was a perfect part-time job which allowed him to shop for sales on steaks and prime rib. Any meal that he and Arlene cooked when they had company over was mouthwatering and more than enough. Bob and Arlene took every moment to spend time together whether it was shopping, travelling, dinners, Roughrider games, or their own happy hours.
Bob absolutely hated the wind in this province which all that knew him will attest to. With the passing of Bob, he will never have to put up with it again. The swear jar will be a lot emptier.
The family would like to thank the first responders and staff at the Regina General Hospital for their professionalism and compassion especially in this world we are in today.
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or your local Legion. To celebrate his life, raise a glass and toast to one of the finest men you would ever meet.
