Miriam Martha Quiring

May 13, 2026

Miriam Martha Quiring was born on October 17, 1943, in Lucky Lake, SK, and passed away in Regina on May 13, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents Abraham and Marie Quiring, two sisters, Shirley Hitziou and Marion Lautermilch, and three brothers-in law, Gus Hitziou, Alvin Lautermilch, and Leslie Froggatt. She leaves to mourn her partner of more than 54 years, Stanley Paxman, one sister, Marlene Froggatt, one brother, Dwight (Ruth) Quiring, four nieces, Faye Hitziou (Adonis Evagelidakis), Carolyn (Bob) Klassen, Lisa (Rod) Doka, Melissa (Brad) Neufeld, and one nephew, Luke (Susan) Quiring, as well as many great nieces and nephews, and a special great-nephew, Giorgo Evagelidakis.

After graduating from Central Collegiate in Regina, Miriam went on to a 32-year long career at Sask Power where she made many lifelong friends. Holidays were special to Miriam. Her first big trip was a 5-week tour of Europe where she enjoyed travelling with one of her best friends. She and Stan also shared memories as they travelled to Hawaii and cruised on the Caribbean. At home, they took in many music concerts, especially gospel music events and the tributes to Elvis performed by Rory Allen.

One area of life where Miriam really shone was in her tender care-giving to her mother, Marie, until Marie’s passing in 2013, and then in more recent years to Stan. Even after she received her cancer diagnosis in January, Miriam’s main concern was being close to Stan. She was extremely thankful that she was placed on his unit at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre so she could see him every day.

The family would like to thank Dr. Van Heerden and the wonderful caregivers on Unit 3-5 at Wascana who helped Miriam in her final days. We know she is now safe in the arms of Jesus, whom she accepted as her Saviour, and felt His comfort and peace as she passed into eternity.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Fellowship Room at Westhill Park Baptist Church, 8025 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20th. Please use the West door. Everyone is welcome.

Messages of Condolence

I will miss my dear friend, Miriam. We have been friends for 55 plus years and worked together for many years at SaskPower. Miriam was a true friend - non judgemental - kind - gentle - loyal - and a wonderful woman. She cared deeply for her family and friends and anyone she knew. She was a very giving person and was interested in the lives of her friends. She was a true Christian woman and will be welcomed into Heaven with open arms. We said our goodbyes a few weeks before she passed and she was at peace, I am thinking. Condolences to Miriam's family. Good bye dear friend.

I met Miriam at SaskPower when I started in Vehicles and Equipment in 1978.    She was meticulous, diligent, precise.  She was quiet and kind. After we retired,  we stayed in touch, mostly by phone a few times a year for sure on each of our birthdays.  She loved to hear the news from work about people she remembered.  Miriam was the most dedicated, loyal, faithful, unselfish person, I have ever known. Her mom lived to I03 years and 8 months.  In addition to good genetics her mom had Miriam, who was always always there.  Caring for her at home, then when that was no longer an option, visiting the care facility daily.  After her mom died, she had a brief break til Stan her partner got sick and went from hospital, to long term care.  She visited daily Wascana Rehab, traveling there by bus.  When my mom was there for a bit our paths crossed again and we saw each other often, be it passing in the halls or at the entertainment.   Miriam was the epitome of the words ‘carer’.  She is in the penthouse, gold starred room of heaven and with her sweet tooth, she now gets to eat cake all three meals each and every day.  RIP Miriam.
