Chuck passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 11, 2012 while a patient on the third floor of the Regina General Hospital.
Left to cherish the memory of his presence in their lives are his wife, Jeanie; his daughter, L’Angelle (Michael Stewart); his son, Christopher (Colleen); and his two grandchildren, Samuel and Reese.
Chuck is also survived by his sister, Jackie; brother-in-law, Doug; nephew, Allan (Debbie); and niece, Terry.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary; siblings, Jean, David, and Albert; and nephews, Tim and Jeff.
Chuck attended elementary and high school in Saskatoon. He took classes at the U of R in Regina and the U of O in Eugene, Oregon. His thirty year career at SaskPower was spent mostly in the Land Department and lastly as a Superintendent in Support Services. Some of Regina’s angel lovers may remember him for The Angel Shoppe on 14th Avenue, a business Jeanie and he owned and operated in the late 90’s.
Chuck had been a member of the YMCA since 1962 and remembers those first 20 mile Marathon Runs out past Lumsden in the early 70’s. He played first mandolin with the Regina Poltava Mandolin Orchestra and especially enjoyed the 1986 Heritage Tour to Ukraine and Russia (and all those Mosaics!).
Chuck loved to travel and managed to miss some Saskatchewan winters by spending time in Yuma, in Mexico and in Europe. He enjoyed renovating and building, fixing and repairing. His home in Regina and condo in Mexico will sadly miss his handyman abilities.
Chuck was proud of this wife’s education, his daughter’s fitness training business, his son’s military career and his two grandchildren’s existence. He and Jeanie recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary (July 28).
Chuck enjoyed the friendly staff at the Harbour Landing McDonald’s where he and Jeanie started their day with coffee and conversation every morning. Just “lovin’ it”!
A service of Remembrance for Chuck will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Regina Officer’s Mess, 1660 Elphinstone Street (please park in the Exhibition grounds and enter through the white building).
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Chuck may be made to the MS Society of Canada (Sask. Division), 150 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2N2.
