Dad was a family man. He lived humbly and with great pride for all he possessed. He was especially proud of his family. He was deeply committed to our mom Rosie and they shared 69 years together up until her passing in 2022. Together they raised four sons with whom he loved with the greatest kindness, respect and pride. He lived a life of honesty, hard work, generosity and courage. Dad treasured his time with his grandchildren and more recently his great-grandchildren. He loved a game of cards, a box of peanut brittle and socializing with friends and family.
Harold Erwin Lorenz was born September 22, 1933. His early years were spent growing up on the family farm near Kelliher, Saskatchewan. Those early years infused in him a love of the land and a respect for hard work. Over time, he met our mother and they moved into Lipton, then Regina and Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan. Throughout this time, his desire to return to the land was always present. Finally, in July 1979, he returned to farm life near Ituna, Saskatchewan. For Dad, life on the farm was heaven on earth. Working the fields, raising livestock, baling, seeding and harvest were incredible times for him. He felt so much satisfaction coming into the house after a long day working outside, all dusty and dirty. In the spring of 2000, our parents retired into Lipton, Saskatchewan. Later, they moved into the Echo Lodge Special Care home in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, where dad lived his remaining years.
Dad was predeceased by our mom, Rosie in 2022 and his brother Joseph, also in 2022. Harold is survived by his sons Dennis (Gayleen), Ken (Arlene), Wayne, Kevin (Tara); grandchildren: Raelyn (Mark), Kara, Jeffery (Colleen), Chelsea (Kyle), Jesse (Brittney), Thea (Mark), Alex (Vanessa), Jenna (Nicolas), Paris, and Hudson; great-grandchildren: Kai, Van, & Kip, Anniston, Beckett, Emme, Romie & Kinsley, Anna, Alice & Ella; brother Raymond (Sharon), sister-in-law Marion (Norman) Denholm; sister-in-law Marion Maleki; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Although there will be no funeral, a commemorative gathering of family will occur at a later date.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Echo Lodge Special Care Home for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam may be made to Echo Lodge Auxiliary, Box 1790, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK., S0G 1S0.
