Meghan Franziska Lanneville (nee Moore) of Airdrie, Alberta passed away on November 22, 2018 at the age of 42. Meghan passed peacefully surrounded by family at Dulcina Hospice in Calgary after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Meghan is survived by her loving husband Pee-Jay; daughters Ellah and Jacquelyn; parents Wayne and Charlotte; Sister Amanda (Brad) and niece/nephew Molly and James.
Meghan was born in Calgary at the General Hospital on July 31, 1976 to Wayne and Charlotte Moore. Meghan was proud to be born a third generation Albertan and enjoyed learning about and sharing her family’s heritage with others.
During Meghan’s school years at OS Gieger Elementary, Foothills Academy, and Bishop McNally High School, she met many friends and developed numerous, life long, relationships including meeting the love of her life, Pee-Jay, in grade 11.
After High School, Meghan attended Mount Royal College and the University of Calgary where she received her Arts’ Degree in Political Science and Master’s of Teaching Degree in Education. During her time in post-secondary, Meghan studied many different aspects of political science and historical topics. During these various studies is where she discovered her love for US and African-American history.
Upon graduating from the University of Calgary, Meghan began teaching at Renfrew Educational Services as a kindergarten teacher. While at Renfrew, Meghan was able to put her mark on society by teaching and influencing the youngest and most impressionable minds.
Meghan’s greatest dream of becoming a mother came true April 2007 when Ellah was born. Soon after, in May 2008, her second wish came true and was blessed with her second child; Jacquelyn. Being a mommy to Ellah and Jacquie was Meghans greatest accomplishment and joy in life. Meghan took her mothering and home-maker job very seriously; she cooked large nightly meals, cared for the kids and took greatest of pleasures when the girls were school aged and needed help with homework and assignments. Meghan loved her family with all her heart and soul; she was kind and gentle but also a ferocious momma bear when needing to be.
Meghan’s family would like to recognize and thank the numerous Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals that cared for Meghan during her illness; most notably Dr. Walley J. Temple and Dr. Sasha Lupichuck and their teams at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Also, the Airdrie homecare team for always being available and ensuring Meghan was comfortable and safe at home for as long as possible with her loved ones.
