We are very saddened with the passing of Lorrie on May 4, 2020 at the age of 94 years. Lorrie passed away peacefully and is survived by her son Darrell (Kim); daughter Charlene (Ed); and granddaughter Emma (Zak); and her sister Ada. She was predeceased by her parents Audrey and Mabel; her brothers Walter, Percy, Reg and Austin; and her sister Evelyn.
Lorrie grew up on a homestead outside High Prairie, Alberta and moved to Edmonton in her teens and took her first job at the McDonald Hotel. She married and relocated to Regina in the early 60s. At age 40, she returned to school to obtain her high school standing, and then attended the University of Regina where she earned a business certificate. This was followed by a long career with Revenue Canada. After retirement, as she loved children, she volunteered to help teach reading at Glen Elm Elementary School and attended teas and other functions at the Regina Royal Canadian Legion Hall. She enrolled in continuing education classes at the University of Regina in Spanish and Creative Writing and was able to correspond with the children she sponsored in Colombia and South America.
Lorrie loved her family, her cats, her house, travelling, gardening and reading. She attended the Little Theatre with her daughter, Canadian Club lectures with friends, and numerous concert performances by her granddaughter Emma.
She will be missed by all who interacted with her.
A private function will be held by the family to Celebrate Lorrie's Life at a later date.
We would like to thank the caregivers and health professionals who attended to Lorrie during this past year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143, Regina, SK S4P 3G7.
