Ron was born on January 8th, 1936 in Ribstone AB to Donald Emerson Kilpatrick and Clara (Burton) Kilpatrick.
Ron spent his childhood years growing up in Ribstone, AB and Edmonton, AB. Beyond doing the things a child would do growing up in the city and on the farm he started working at a young age. A few of the things he did included delivering fliers and taking orders from local businesses and restaurants for fish deliveries that he ran around on his bike.
Rons working career began early and really lasted his entire life. His children all worked with him at some point, in some aspect and all learned from his tireless work ethic. He made lifelong friends along the way and often commented that it was where he did the bulk of his socializing. Anyone who had the good fortune to work with or beside him can attest to the fact that he was blessed with the gift of gab!!
He had many jobs through his long working career and touched many people along the way.
He worked as a police officer for the CPS, an oilmans body guard and an investigator for Western Investigations. He drove trucks, both big and small, for his dad as well as when he ran his own demolition and salvage companies.
He helped build homes in northern Alberta with Indian Affairs, ran the maintenance arm for the 4 Bands at Hobbema and was Foreman for the Summer Village of Gull Lake for years.
Ron was a journeyman Tinsmith as well as an all around contractor. He could tackle almost anything and was able to build a home from the ground up.
When not working or tinkering in the shop Ron enjoyed the outdoors. He had many hunting and fishing trips through the years that will forever be remembered by those that accompanied him. He introduced many to those great sports and they continue to pursue them with the passion that Ron had as well.
He loved auctions, antiques and was always on the lookout for a good deal. He could find that bargain and diamond in the rough when others weren’t looking. There wasn’t a thing that was wasted when Ron was around as he saw the value in everything.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lynne.
Ron was blessed with a big family, he was fortunate enough to have 7 siblings (5 brothers and 2 sisters), 7 children (5 sons and 2 daughters) as well as 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He has countless nieces and nephews and a family legacy that most can only dream of.
The love for Ron will go on and he will be missed by family and friends. He was extremely proud of his family and loved them all unconditionally. That feeling will be carried on by his family and his memory will be forever in our hearts.
