Katherine Rose Wilcox (Preiss)
November 13, 1932 - November 27, 2025
With deep love and gratitude for her long life, we announce that Katherine Rose Wilcox, affectionately known as Kay, went to Heaven peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at the age of 93. She is now partying with Jesus and all her loved ones who were waiting to welcome her home.
Born in Pre-Ste-Marie, Saskatchewan on November 13, 1932, Kay lived most of her life in Regina and Fort Qu'Appelle area. She outlived all of her siblings, a testament to her strength and stubbornness. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Josephine Preiss, and her siblings, Jack (Rose) Klotz, Julia (Bob) Desmarais, Nick (Mary) Klotz, Rose (Peter) Tulik, Joe (Elsie) Preiss, and Helen (Jack) Domm. She is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Kay was the devoted mother of six children. Welcoming her into Heaven is her daughter Donna Wilcox and son John (Jack) Wilcox. Missing her deeply here on earth are Dale Wilcox, Larry Kaminski, Greg Kaminski and Karen Legendre; her daughters-in-law Lorna Wilcox, Jacqueline Kaminski and Sharon Kaminski; and her son-in-law Rock Legendre.
She was a proud and joyful grandmother and great-grandmother to Kevin Wilcox, Curtis Wilcox, Candice and Lee Hanna & Sarah Nordell, Joshua, Janie & Florence Legendre, Jason and Chesley Legendre, Brianna and Matt Henry, Andrew and Jake Klassen and Emily Kaminski. Waiting in Heaven to greet her were her beloved grandchildren Justin & Mitchell Kaminski - Grandma is surely wrapping them in long-awaited snuggles by now.
Known affectionately by her children as "Katie Two shoes", Kay was a hardworking and loving single mother who ran her own upholstery business for many years. Though she never had much, she shared generously with anyone in need. Her faith was the steady center of her life. she served faithfully in the church and even pastored a small congregation on the White Bear Reservation near Carlyle. Her ministry took her across Canada and the United states, and one of her life's greatest blessings came in 1977 when Max Solbrekken gifted her a trip to Israel - an experience she cherished always.
In her later years, nothing delighted her more than a visit paired with peanut-butter squares or lazy cabbage rolls - her simple, sweet joys.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of Wascana Rehab, Main 6, for the gentle and loving care they provided Kay over the past six and half years.
Mom we love you. We rejoice knowing you are celebrating in heaven - and we'll see you again.
