Judy L'Hirondelle

November 8, 2025

Judy L'Hirondelle

Judith (Judy) Anne L’Hirondelle (1958 - 2025) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in Surrey, British Columbia.  Judy was born in Vancouver in 1958 and raised in North Vancouver. She was adopted into the loving family of Patricia and Baptiste L’Hirondelle.  She has two brothers, John and Paul. She attended Handsworth Secondary and graduated in 1977.

Judy held many different jobs over her lifetime. She helped young people with developmental disabilities, worked on the highways, and drove a semi truck. She was an inspector with the Ministry of Passenger Transportation and worked to regulate and license limos, buses, and taxis. She graduated from the Justice Institute of British Columbia and became a Peace Officer with Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE). On March 6, 2018, Judy retired from CVSE. Wherever she worked, she was a dedicated employee. She took pride in her many accomplishments.

On July 25, 2009, Judy married Margalo Willard. They were introduced to each other by Margalo’s brother. They had many wonderful adventures together. They traveled by RV to the states several times. They went on four cruises together. They went to Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska on vacation. Judy and Margalo loved to go to the movies, go out to restaurants, and be together at home. They adopted two dachshunds, Owen and Libby. They adopted a tuxedo cat named Toney too. They adored their furbabies very much.

Ever since Judy retired, her health declined significantly. She battled diabetes, gastroparesis, vascular dementia, and depression. She had only been diagnosed with vascular dementia a month and a half before her death. She still couldn’t walk due to a knee revision surgery she had a year ago.

Judy was a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She was kind, thoughtful, and considerate. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body. She was very funny and loved goofing off around Margalo. She was smart, bright, and bubbly. She looked at the positive in life, and tried to see the best in others.

Judy will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Messages of Condolence

Judy and I were married for 16 years, and we knew each other for 18 years. I am so thankful for the time we had together, even though our time was cut short. I will always wish for more time with her. She was a wonderful wife, and an amazing best friend. She was my rock, and helped me to get through some tough times. We supported each other with love, trust, and respect. I will miss Judy deeply. I love you! ~ Margalo Willard

My first friend in North Vancouver, Judy and I shared many a shenanigan. She was the kind of friend you could depend on any time, anywhere, for any reason. I will remember her forever.❤️ ~ Catherine Knights
