James Richard Fleming
June 12, 2025

He joins his parents Marion Fleming (nee Box) and Lloyd Richard Fleming, his brother Keith Fleming, as well as our mother Yvonne Fleming (nee Richard). Left to mourn his loss is his eldest daughter April Blondeau (Curtis) and their children Sage (Erika) and Raven; Youngest daughter Brenda Fleming and her children Chaylene, Jenna (Bodean); Brothers Ralph Fleming and Murray Fleming (Lolly); Sisters Myrna Hickson, Ethnie Longdon (Graham), along with his many beloved nieces and nephews who held special places in his heart.
James was born in Wolsely, Saskatchewan on October 17, 1931. His family moved to Regina when he was young. He went to High School in Regina at Balfour Collegiate. At the age of 19, he moved to Bigger, Saskatchewan to accept a job with CN Railway. He worked as a Caboose-man for 39 years making many a trip to Gravelbourg, Kipling, and Melville. Of his many stories, one of his favourites, and usually stated word for word (so much that we all could repeat the next sentence), was when he just got home from a work trip and he was making eggs when the phone rang. It was his boss making him the offer to retire immediately, meaning he could not take another trip if he accepted. He told his boss "I am eating my eggs, I'll call you back". He accepted the offer and started day one of his 36 years on CN Pension to which he was so very proud. Dad was convinced that his long standing pension would cause CN to go bankrupt, but that was not the case!
In our dad's last decade, he loved to share his many stories with his family which we will miss immensely. We will miss his daily "Trump Report" and his Rough Rider season predictions and analysis.
One of his major accomplishments was founding Richard's Beauty College with our mother Yvonne in 1961. In the final few years of his life, it made him light up to tell people the adoptions of his daughters "was a success". This was his way of saying how proud he is of us and how proud he was to be our dad.
Our father was quite the character and his stories will live on with us forever. Dad you will never be forgotten.
At his request there will be no service. Flowers gratefully declined, however, whenever you see a train go by, please think of our father.

Messages of Condolence
Condolences Brenda to you and all the family. ~ Gene amyotte
April, Curtis and family, we are very sorry to hear of your father’s passing, he left you with great memories ~ Ralph and Lois Blondeau
Your father and my father (Keith Lister) work together for many years on the CN. They enjoyed working together and socializing after work. I remember how your father offered work to my brother and I to paint the fence and house on the corner of Elphinstone St and 15 Ave. He treat us with respect and offered us tickets to Rider games. We also had the pleasure of knowing your mother. May they rest in peace! ~ Warren Lister
