Olga Hodel

It is with great sadness we announce that Olga Hodel, late of Grand Coulee, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with her husband and two daughters by her side on Monday, June 3, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her last week was spent in the care of the amazing staff at the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Ward…with many Thanks.

Olga began her journey in life in Hubbard, Saskatchewan - the youngest of 9 children. She spent her life residing in Saskatchewan and was married to Harold Hodel for 48 years. They have 2 children, Natasha (Chris) and Tamara (Rob) and granddaughter, Sasha Mo. Harold and Olga lived together in Grand Coulee for the past 41 years. Olga was the janitor of Stewart Nicks School for 14 years, and then a private housekeeper for several years. After this, Olga changed direction and went on to work at Conexus Arts Center for 14 years, where she thoroughly enjoyed her colleagues. Over her lifetime, Olga made wonderful friendships, she loved a good joke and a laugh, loved to power walk and rarely sat down to relax except to enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the Toronto Blue Jays. She was also known for her delicious baked goods such as bread and perogies and generously shared her goodies with friends and neighbors. Olga loved planting her veggie patch, watering her spring flowers and watching the birds.

A Celebration of Olga’s Life - a Come and Go Tea - will take place at Grand Coulee Community Hall on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Friends and Family are invited to speak, tell stories or share a joke from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Olga may be made to Hospitals of Regina Foundation- Palliative Care Ward or Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.

So sorry to hear of Olga’s passing; she was a great neighbor and friend on Royal street and I often think of the good laughs and fun we had, I used to see her at Conexus and have a good chat and a laugh! You can be assured that your dedicated care and love poured into your mums wellbeing and comfort before her death would of been felt and have meant so much to her. Lots of love and hugs to you all. Uncle Harold, Tammy, Natasha and Family Please accept our deepest condolences for the passing of Auntie Olga. We were fortunate to spend some time with her last September when she was in Edmonton. Although it was a sad occasion, we were able to spend some quite time with her, she sat with our children who had not really had the privilege of knowing her previously. We watched as she interacted with Amber and Nathan telling stories about her growing up with their Geido (Andy). She gave them precious memories and of course some laughs. Auntie Olga chose to share stories about your family so our young children would know about each of you, as they have not had a opportunity to meet you yet. They will always remember the Sweet Tiny Great Auntie that sat between them at the restaurant and gave them her undivided attention. She will forever live in our hearts.
