Greta Marion Howarth

(Greta) Marion Howarth 1927-2026

On the night of January 1st, 2026, we lost our beloved mother, grandmother of 6 and GG, great grandmother of 8.

Marion Howarth passed away peacefully at 98 years of age, 2 months shy of her 99th birthday, and was looking forward to being with her Lord in Heaven.

She lived independently in her condo doing puzzles, Sudoku, looking after her plants, reading, and was sharp as a tack at cards.

Marion lived a long and healthy life. She was born in 1927 near Orono, Ontario at home on the farm and rode her horse to school. Big city life called after school and she moved to Toronto, took courses, ended up in business, met Gordon Howarth her husband, and had 3 daughters Anne Howarth, Lynne Wright, Teri (Durksen) Kingma.

Mom was a shy, quiet, private person, who loved to laugh, but she was feisty and knew her own mind. She was very creative, sewed

beautiful designer clothes, pottery, enjoyed oil painting, arranging flowers, kept her home beautifully staged, and immaculately clean. Mom designed a gorgeous waterfront home on Locarno Lane in Victoria.

She loved the outdoors, was an avid walker, and was famous for picking flowers along her walk to arrange in lovely bouquets. Marion had a green thumb, she always said plants had an inner will to live, and she could keep bouquets, poinsettias, and plants thriving longer than anyone. Her gardens she designed were fabulous, and we all enjoyed the fresh veggies and berries. Mom was a berry fanatic, growing and picking many varieties. She would eat as many as she picked, and was famous for her marion berry jams and pies.

Mom loved the outdoors, and one of her favourite pastimes was fishing on Lake Joseph in the Muskoka Lakes area. We ate fish all summer long, she caught so many! In later years she and Dad spent much of their time traveling to Arizona to their place in Sun Lakes, then traveling around in their RV chasing the sun in the winters.

Marion loved the Lord, and spent time daily reading her Bible. She was active at Richview Baptist Church in Etobicoke, Central Baptist Church in Victoria and White Rock Baptist Church. We were all blessed to have her in our lives, and for such a wonderfully long time. Mom we will sorely miss you!.
