On Monday, February 12, 2018 our family lost our beautiful mother after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Mom was surrounded by her children and their spouses, and grandchildren when she passed away.
Mom was born June 5, 1929 in Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan and was one of 16 children. She grew up in Lake Lenore and then her family moved to Humboldt where she finished her education. She married George Glabus and moved to Wapella, Saskatchewan where they owned and managed the Commercial Hotel and raised four children. They eventually sold the business and moved to Regina where they completed their family with the addition of two more children. In October of 1980 we all celebrated when Mom married Gordon Gill, who fondly became Grampa Gord to our family. Throughout her life she dealt with challenges, triumphs, tragedies, and always showed her great strength and strong family bonds with humor and love. She was an inspiration for everyone and this was reflected by her many friends and strong family ties. Our family bond is a testimony to her character and this will never weaken and only grow stronger.
She loved to travel and most of all she loved the numerous family get-togethers, playing scrabble or a good card game and of course, was a big Roughrider fan.
Her greatest legacy is her six children Karen (Fred) Zinkhan, Mark (Iona) Glabus, Laurie MacGregor (Terry Dingle), Colin (Grace Berscheid), Shelley Glabus (Graham Topp), Colleen Cameron (Ray), her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Her wishes were for cremation and a private family ceremony.
The Glabus family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and Palliative Care team at the Pasqua Hospital.
If you wish, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Regina Palliative Care #200 – 2150 Scarth St., Regina, SK, S4P 2H7.
We take comfort knowing that she has joined our Dad George, her husband Gord, and granddaughter Carly as well as her immediate family members who passed on before her. We will follow the Live, Laugh, and Love motto she went by and she will be forever in our hearts until we are with her again.
