In 1961, he attended language school in Centralia, Ontario, followed by NATO Flight Training in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, where he met his future wife, Gwen. They married in 1962 and after returning to Denmark in 1963, Fritz flew the Catalina for Search and Rescue. Their daughter, Karen, was born in 1964. After completing his Air Force contract, Fritz joined Canadian Pacific Airlines in 1967, moving his family to Vancouver area, where their son, Kevin, was born in 1975. Fritz flew for CPAir, which later became Air Canada and in 2000 he retired after a 34-year career as a Captain on the 747.

After his retirement, he continued to enjoy the simple pleasures of life with his beloved wife, Gwen, their children and their grandchildren, who loving called him Papa, always cherishing the memories of a life well-lived in the skies.

What a kind and lovely Uncle. Well except the time he let me try to kill myself on Kevin's motorbike.  Soft landing on the stinging nettle patch. My love to Aunt Gwen, Karen and Kevin.Linneaxo ~ Linnea Chamberlain

Sister-in-Law I have so many fond memories of Fritz. He was the kindest, most pateint man I have ever know. I loved his sense of humor, his laughter and his smile. I recall how he took me out in their Volvo to get my drivers license. He deserved a metal for sure. New Westminster hills and a standard were not so kind to me. If he had not been so patient I would be riding the bus today. Thank You Fritz. I will miss you. every day but always on your Birthday May 5th.  ~ Lynne Marie McCormick
