CURR, Frederick Richard
God called on Fred
God said he needed some help. “I need some help to steer the ship. Someone who will take charge and make sure things are done properly. Someone who will lead the others and set an example of how to get the job done. Someone who will not complain but see it through to completion. Someone like a trucker, he said. Someone who will start early and not quit until the job is done”… so he called on Fred. “I need someone who will show younger ones how to get a job done without delay; talk about the old days and point out how they were better but accept new things and adapt old principles to new ways”… so he called on Fred
“I need someone with strong hands who will swing a hammer and wield a shovel, and come home and hold his young daughters, dry their tears and soothe their broken hearts”…so he called on Fred “I need a man who can cut a wide swath and show others how to treat people with concern and respect and gather more friends than those around him”…so he called on Fred. “I need a man who will spend his days with the hardest of workers and come home to his favorite lady and be only concerned with how her day went”... so he called on Fred. God called Fred home Thursday, October 12, 2017 in the morning with his loving wife by his side going quickly, quietly, peacefully, with no complaints or objections.
Fred is lovingly remembered by his best girl of 26 years, Marie; sisters, Jeannie Nachai, Marie (Harry) Maynard and Sylvia Parker; stepsister, Laura Petryshyn; brothers, Ed (Donna) Parker, Ron (Laverne) Parker and Norm (Sharon) Parker; his loving daughters, Karen (Jamie) Pilkey, Patricia (Darwin) Draper, and Bonnie (Lorin) Rattai; stepdaughters, Lisa (Doug) Baltimore and Jodi Wetter; stepson, John (Giovanna) Gerencser, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Ty (Angela) Pilkey, Hayden, Ashton and Riley Pilkey, Brady and Dustin Bakke, Shaye McCutcheon, Jasper and Jaycee Rattai, Danielle (Matt) Easton, Kyle Baltimore, and Eden Wetter. Fred was pre-deceased by his adoptive parents, Janet and Sandy Curr; stepbrother, Johnny Curr; and birth parents, Grace and Albert Parker.
Fred loved his job at Border Paving and thoroughly enjoyed time spent with coworkers and countless friends but more than that, Fred was especially proud of all of his lovely girls, their families, and especially his grandkids. Fred never missed an opportunity to brag on their many and varied accomplishments…. Fred loved camping and traveling with Marie and usually worked in visits with family and friends along the way. Fred has moved on to take on his new role and invites his many, many friends and family members to gather for refreshments and fellowship (ie: BS) at the Trailblazer Room, Main Pavilion, Westerner Park, 4847A – 19 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association and/or the Canadian Cancer Society.
