Gregg Patrick Clarke died on December 27th, 2023, at the age of 75 in his home at Regina Beach. Gregg was predeceased by his mother Marion, father Patrick, nephew Ryan and his brother-in-law Dan.
Gregg is lovingly remembered by his children Steve (Stacey), Dave (Pam), Carolynn (Danny), their mother Frieda, Brandon (Michelle), and his mother Margaret; his grandchildren Ally (Derek), Hannah, Kinley, and Connor; his sisters Patti (Joe) and Debbie; and his nieces Denise and Angie.
As a child, Gregg spent his summers at his grandmother’s cottage at Regina Beach. In 1977, he decided to move out there full time with his family. Eventually Gregg moved his business, Clarke’s Appliance Service, and served the Regina Beach community and surrounding area. He felt very fortunate to be able to build his home on the Regina Beach lakefront property of his grandmother’s, and after many ups and downs over the years, he was able to take his last breath there too. If you knew Gregg, you know this is exactly how he wanted it. Gregg’s love for nature and his connection to the land was obvious. He found peace and serenity there. He loved to camp, hunt, fish and spend time up in Shackleton with his son Brandon. Gregg was a devoted grandpa to his four grandchildren. He spent time watching them play sports, going boating, having corn roasts, fishing, and spending quality time with them.
Over the years, Gregg became part of another very important family, his sobriety family. His death has left a hole there too. He will forever be loved and remembered. He celebrated his 39th year of sobriety in December.
Gregg developed a degenerative lung disease, but even into the end stages of it, his will was always strong. He somehow continued to find ways to do the things that were important to him. He spoke often of his higher power, it’s importance in his life, and how he relied on it each day.
We love you Gregg/Dad/Grandpa.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 (come and go) on January 13th, 2023, at Memorial Hall in Regina Beach.
Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
