BECKER, Lousie Ingrid
September 11, 1946 – May 3, 2022
Louise Ingrid Becker, 75, of Red Deer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Born in Wetaskiwin in September of 1946, to Ines and Robert Fraser, Louise was the eldest of four siblings. Louise was a driven woman with a brilliant mind. She graduated early and moved to Edmonton on her own, living with friends Pat Harden and Linda Haley. At the age of 16 years, Louise was committed to her work in Edmonton for a denturist, after which she moved to Red Deer and found fulfillment working at the Michener Centre for several years after that.
Louise married Milo Becker in September of 1965, and together they lived in Buck Lake and Drayton Valley before returning to Red Deer in 1967. Here, they made their home, where they raised their family and made loyal friends through the following decades.
Louise quickly became well known by friends and family for her gift with children. Known as “Grandma Weeze” or “Weezie” for many children, Louise worked and oversaw the child-minding at Body Basics for almost 40 years and made a significant impact on many of the families that she cared for. Those that met Louise quickly fell in love with her warm heart, patient demeanor, and caring soul. Being a “Professional” Grandma was topped only when her own grandchildren were born. Being a Grandparent increases your capacity to love and Louise’s love for her grandchildren, Milo and Seanna, was truly infinite.
Louise always gave the best parts of herself. Whether it was helping her family or friends or simply lending an ear, she was always there for support. She was an avid blood donor and could be found volunteering at the Festival of Trees for many years.
Though Louise had travelled to several incredible places – Hawaii, Cuba, Costa Rica and The Dominican Republic to name a few – her favorite place to visit was the Western Coast of British Columbia, where she was able to visit beloved family and friends.
Spending time with her loved ones was Louise’s favorite pastime, and she was fortunate enough to be surrounded by such people within their own community. Louise and Milo built strong relationships with their neighbors and will forever be thankful to “The Happy Hour Club”.
Louise & Milo enjoyed retirement, camping, following rodeos or horse races, and could often be found sharing stories and having a good laugh with Evelyn and Doug Becker, or Shirley and Don Laczo. Family was the best of life.
Louise is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Milo; her daughters, Leanne Mancuso (Angelo), Anita Becker (Chris Todd), and Corrine Bullen (Lance); her grandchildren Milo Mancuso (Lindsay), and Seanna Mancuso (Nick Vogt); step-granddaughter Cedar McAteer; sisters, Ellen Caldwell, and Robby Johnson (Jack Gladwin); sister-in-law, Cheryl Fraser and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by both of her parents, and her beloved brother, Lonnie Fraser.
Louise left an impression on all those she met and will be deeply missed. We will forever cherish every part of us that is her.
We will be holding a Celebration of Life, Tuesday June 7, 2022. The service will be held at 6:30 pm at the German Canadian Club (38167 RR280, Red Deer County, AB, T4N 5E4). We would like to welcome all who would like to remember Louise to join with us.
