Anna Marie Helena Van Nieuwenhoven
June 4, 2025

Anna passed away at Cascades Lodge in Chilliwack on June 4, 2025.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary-Ann and her husband, Leo. She is survived by her daughter, Ria (Ted), son-in-law Milton (Laurel), eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her sister as well as many extended family members and friends.
Anna was born in Nederweert, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1954. Anna followed Leo to British Columbia, and they were married in Salmon Arm on September 18, 1954. They moved to Aldergrove in 1961 and in 1967, they rented their first farm in Matsqui in 1965. After three years they purchased their own farm in Sumas Prairie where they farmed until 1981. They semi-retired to a broiler farm on Tolmie Road until 1990. Anna and Leo travelled around in their motorhome and enjoyed bus trips to the USA and Eastern Canada. She loved her flower gardens and had many beautiful gardens wherever they lived. She was also a good bowler and bowled for many years on two different teams. She enjoyed reading and loved getting together with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was especially proud of becoming a great-great grandmother two years ago; the first in her family.
Special thanks to the staff at Cascades Lodge, first floor. She quite enjoyed her time there, the food, and the people.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 13th at 11:00am at St Ann’s Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Avenue in Abbotsford, B.C.

Many cherished memories of times spent with Tante Ann. From holidays to the dairy farm during my childhood, to more recent visits, as well as letters and telephone calls over the years. Lots of great conversations, shared stories and laughter. She will be missed.Heartfelt condolences to the family. ~ Elsie Thyssen - Nanaimo, BC
