Alicia Janette Grad

December, 1983 - March 13, 2023

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alicia on March 13, 2023. She will be forever loved and missed by her parents, Mike & Laurel Grad, sisters; Kelsey Cohen (Mathew) and Jess Bereti (Taylor), and her nephews of whom she was so proud, Hayden & Beckett Cohen. Alicia will also be missed by her large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her numerous friends near and far. She always looked forward to family gatherings, big or small. Alicia loved to travel, with two of her favorite trips being Australia and more recently, Ireland & Scotland. Alicia loved curling, crafting, trivia, and of course, “The Office.” She always enjoyed watching her nephews’ sporting activities, rarely missing a game. Alicia had a way of making everyone around her feel welcome - she was generous, kind, and compassionate. She was dedicated to her family, friends, and her work. She did not hesitate to offer her time and help, even if it wasn’t asked of her.

Alicia had a heart of gold and a smile that could instantly brighten any room. The world has lost a special person. Our hearts are broken. We will miss you.

A celebration of Alicia’s life will take place at a later date.

Donations in Alicia’s honor can be made to Kinsmen Telemiracle.

I only met Alicia a few times, but heard many stories and adventures from Kelsey and Mathew. She loved those two nephews like crazy, I loved hearing about the plans she would make with each of them and all the fun she had. Hayden and Beckett were the luckiest nephews in the world to have Aunty Alicia. May she rest in peace and always be in everyone's memory forever. She was one of a kind! I believe your arms are tight around her now and Dad is so close at her side. It is with great sadness we wish to express our deepest sympathy to you and your family.

My deepest sympathy Laurel, Mike, Kelsey and Jessica. Alicia was a great friend to me when we were little. One memory came in mind when she had a sleep over birthday party and she invited me! I remember that we watched Free Willy and stayed up past the bedtime rule. (Geez such rebels) We didn’t keep in touch till Facebook came along and I clicked to be her friend again and of course she accepted! Just the things she posted or said she was a one of a kind person that’s hard to come by. Condolences Kristen Hannah

Laurel, Mike, and family, we are so sorry to hear about Alicia's passing. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Joanne and Garth!

It's rare to have a cousin who is 9 years older than you take the time out of their life to not only get to know you but to help shape you into a good person. But that's just who Alicia was. Alicia was an incredibly kind, selfless, outgoing, funny, and thoughtful person. She had so many friends and was quite the social butterfly. She was always up for anything, and open to try new things and experiences. She had a zest for travel and a knack for photography. She was a hell of a trivia player and had an incredible amount of music, pop culture, and historical knowledge. She was an amazing cousin, and always made time for her family. She loved baby snuggles and her face would light up when she held newborns. Something she shared with our grandma. She loved her nephews so much, and would do anything for them. And she would always be there and show up for her friends and family. I can't make sense of what has happened to her. I don't know that it will ever make sense. Sometimes bad stuff happens to good people, and you can't find anyone better than Alicia. Rest in peace my dear cousin. You are so loved, and will be so missed. My thoughts go out to my amazing aunt and uncle, cousins, and family who are all hurting at this time.

Our hearts goes out to you at this difficult time. Wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow. Alicia's pleasantness, courtesy, and excellent work ethics will be missed by her colleagues and customers.

My Deepest condolences Laurel, Mike and family. I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Alicia. Growing up next door neighbours (twice!) was quite the gift!
