Hubert Wiesner

On Saturday, May 7, 2020 Hubert Wiesner, late of Montmartre, SK, passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth, by his side. 

Hubert was predeceased by his parents Otto and Amalia (Krebs) Wiesner; son Darren Wiesner; his brothers Carl, Rheinhart and Alvin; his sisters Mary Metcalfe, Beth Wiesner, Elnora Kuntz, Anne Fisher, and Viola Welwood. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Elizabeth (Melnyk); sons Larry and his children Matthew, Shianne and Jayden; Kelly (Treena) and their children Saralyn and Darren; Dallas (Jenna) and their children Turner and Rylan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Hubert lived his 88 years to the fullest. He was an active member in the community. He was the Director of Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in Montmartre and Fillmore, SK; the Director of the Credit Union in Montmartre. Hubert also served on the church committee in Mutrie, and until his passing, was on the committee for the Our Lady of Good Help Cemetery and assisted with the upkeep of the grounds.  Hubert loved softball and played as the catcher in Mutrie in his younger days. He enjoyed watching sports on T.V. such as baseball, hockey and curling; he also had an interest in politics.

Hubert and Liz married on August 1, 1959 in St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Montmartre and moved to the family farm, where they raised four boys. Hubert was hard-working and spent over 70 years as a cattle and grain farmer. Hubert and Liz also had chickens, turkeys, pigs and ducks and of course Liz’s many gardens and beautiful flowers.

The family wants to express their gratitude to Dr. C. Johnson and all the staff on the Palliative Care Unit, Regina Pasqua Hospital for their exceptional care. 

A private service was held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at St. Joseph Parish, Candiac, SK followed by burial in Our Lady of Good Help Roman Catholic Cemetery, Mutrie, SK with immediate family.
