Grace Elizabeth Nygren

November 23rd, 2022

Grace passed away peacefully with family by her side at William Booth Special Care Home, Regina, SK.

Grace is survived by her three daughters Yvonne Sitter, Karen Miller and Sherry Palmer (Guy); son-in-law Keith Wittal; grandchildren Deanna, Ehren, Clayton (Lana), Jackie (Ricky), Kimberly, Mathew (Amanda), Sherisse and Karissa; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Nygren; daughter Loretta Wittal; sons-in-law Dennis Miller and Lloyd Sitter; and her 10 siblings.

Grace was born and raised on a farm near Springside, SK. In 1944, while working at Boeing Aircraft in Vancouver, B.C. she met her future husband Henry, a dashing lumberjack from Saskatchewan. They were married at Springside, SK on September 22, 1946 and then returned to the Nygren homestead southwest of Wilcox, SK to farm and raise their four daughters. After retirement they lived in Wilcox. Grace eventually moved to Regina after Henry passed away.

In her youth her family all loved to play softball and she continued on with being a faithful Blue Jays fan. She enjoyed curling and watched all the curling events on TV. Karen tried to introduce her to football but to no avail.

Grace was well known for her home cooked meals and baking. Apart from her cooking and baking pies and butter tarts that were incredible, she loved to decorate cakes and did a few wedding cakes. Grace was an accomplished seamstress and was always sewing dresses for her daughters for all occasions. She even sewed wedding, bridesmaids and grad dresses.

Grace belonged to the Bethesda Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary and of course her and Henry enjoyed the social activities of the Snow Club.

Most of all Grace loved family gatherings, trips to Springside and British Columbia to visit her siblings and spending time with grandkids and great-grandchildren Autumn, Carson, Kelsey, Ryan, Taylor, Eva, Samantha, Gabe and Callahan.

Our memories of her steadfast love will keep her ever near.

The family wishes to thank the staff at William Booth Special Care Home for their kindness and compassion while caring for Grace. The family wishes to thank Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services for their assistance and support.

There will be no service at this time. The family will host a Celebration of Life in the future.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Foundation of Saskatchewan (www.lungfoundation.ca) or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca).
