Roy Thomas Richards

December 20th, 2020

Roy Thomas Richards passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 20, 2020 at home in Regina, SK at the age of 77 years. He was born on August 6, 1943 and raised in the Wawota Farm District.

He graduated from Wawota High School in 1963, eventually going on to earn his degree in Radio-TV and Communications Servicing from the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in 1979.

His working life spanned several different fields and specialties, all of which he worked hard to excel in. Roy will forever be remembered as “Mr. Fix It” as there was no job or task too big or small that he was afraid to take on. Before being forced into retirement at 75 due to health, he worked as both a mechanic and long-haul driver for Affordable Trailer Sales, where he made many meaningful and lasting friendships.

He was predeceased by his parents Robert (Bob) and Yvonne (Hall) Richards; mother and father-in-law Bert and Lillian Crashley; his sister Trudy Jean (John Pryce); sisters-in-law Roberta Richards and Diane Watson.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Theresa of 35 years; daughter Krista (Corrie) and their children Logan and MiKayla; daughter Shawna and her children Deagen and Brett and their father Terry; daughter KaraLee (Nolan) and their children Chase (Raylene; Wyatt) and Morgan (Nick); sons Derek Richards, Travis Richards and Corey Handwork; brothers Clifford and Doug (Anne); brother-in-law Randy (Kathy) Crashley; sister-in-law Tonilea (Ron) Cartmell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

He was always incredibly active, whether it was one of the many clubs he belonged to or one of his many passions, his social life was full. He was a devout member of Faith Baptist Church in Regina, attending every Sunday while he was able. Roy was a driven professional with an unmatched work ethic. He was an avid boater, fisherman, hunter and bow hunter. He spent countless hours on the lake perfecting his fishing skills and teaching his grandkids to appreciate the outdoors.

Celebration of Roy’s Life will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Faith Baptist Church, 437 Broadway Avenue East, Regina, Saskatchewan.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks you to the Palliative Care Unit, Home Palliative Care Staff and Faith Baptist Church whom supported Roy and Theresa during the last year.
