Beverley Lynn Wentzell

June 1st, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Beverley Lynn Wentzell announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, June 1, 2019 in Regina, SK. Bev was predeceased by her late husband Scott Wentzell; her son Scott (Scooter) Wentzell in 1996; and her father Lawrence Seely in 1976. She is survived by her loving husband Jim Deis; her daughter Lindsay (Devon) Leader; stepdaughter Sabrina (Jeremy) Lavalley and stepson Tyler (Alison) Deis; 9 grandchildren Jenna, Jacob, Miah, Kendal, Hudson, Brinley, Cruze, Taylor, and Cohen; her sister Laurie (Gerard) O’Krane and brother Ric (Glenda) Seely; her mother Hyancinthe Seely; as well as many special nieces, nephews, and amazing friends.

Bev was born on November 27, 1950 in Whitehorse, Yukon to her loving parents Hyancinthe and Lawrence Seely. Bev met her husband Scott in 1972. They got married soon thereafter and moved to Carcross, Yukon with Scott’s first posting as an RCMP officer. After five years together, they had two children. Scott (Scooter) was born in Yellowknife, NWT in 1978 and Lindsay was born in Lloydminster, SK in 1982. Their family moved around to many small towns and isolated communities throughout the North of Canada.

Bev worked for the Royal Bank as a teller and then as an administrative assistant for property management companies. Bev married Jim Deis in May of 2002 and she started a new chapter in her life. Her entrepreneurial skills led her to the opportunity of starting her two home-based businesses: “Heavenly Scents Aromatherapy” and “Scooters fotos 4 you” photo booths. Bev enjoyed life each and every day. She enjoyed doing yoga, playing pickle ball, dancing, going for lunches with her daughter and friends, visiting her family in B.C. and her in-laws in Nova Scotia, vacationing and long walks on the beach with Jim.

Bev had an incredible ability to touch and heal people all around her. She was always drawn to people suffering or in need. Bev would always reach out to those struggling with anything. She touched so many people and was a friend to so many. Bev had a huge heart and made a difference in countless people’s lives.

Bev lived each day to the fullest with no regrets. To know her was to love her and everyone who knew Bev was a better person because of her. Bev greeted everyone she ever met with a smile and instantly she made you feel loved and important. Bev loved her God and was a servant of God in everything that she did here on Earth. Bev would always light up any room and when she asked you how you were, she meant it and was truly prepared to listen and love.

Bev loved her family more than anything and she would do whatever it took to help at any given time. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the focus of her every day. Bev was an incredible nana to all of her grandchildren. She and Jim loved having the grandchildren for sleepovers, taking them places like rock climbing, the arcade, the movies, or cheering them on in their sports or special activities. Bev always planned wonderful Easter basket scavenger hunts with special clues or poems for each grandchild every Easter. Bev made sure she was there at every birthday party to make sure the kids all knew how special and loved they were.

It has been said that people will often pass away in the same way they lived their life. Bev passed away so peacefully with her family around her, which is exactly the way she chose to live her life each day.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for memorial donations to North Central Family Centre (www.northcentralfamilycentre.ca) which is an organization close to Bev’s heart, or an act of kindness in order to honor Bev’s legacy. The family wishes to thank the amazing care that was provided by the entire palliative care team.

The Celebration of Bev’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Westhill Park Baptist Church, 8025 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK.  Private family interment will be held.

Jim, lindsay and family, my heart is broken with the news of Bev's passing. Bev was one of the kindest most genuine people I have had the privilege of meeting. The last time I saw Bev was two years ago when I went back to Regina for a visit. I banged into her at the dollarstore and she instantly lit up and gave me a big tight hug. I will never forget her kind soul and how she reached out to help the Rett Syndrome Association of SK bring a little sunshine to our annual general meeting. Sending you all hugs from far away but close in heart. Juanita. Xoxo

Jim, Lindsay and families I am so sorry for your loss. May God surround you all with peace now and in the days to come. Please take care.

Hi Jim, It is with truly saddened hearts that June and I learned of Bev's passing a couple of days ago. The four of us spent some good times enjoying each other's company down in PV and Cabo each year for 2 or 3 weeks in Jan over a period of 5 years. We have never forgotten those days and never shall. Bev had such a infectious smile and personality that we came to know and love ever more with each passing year. Bev and June had the strong bond of their sons. The four of us hit it off from the start and we eagerly looked forward to the time we would spend together. We pray for you in your time of grief and we know Bev is waiting for you in heaven.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Beverly was a dear church friend and she will be missed.

Jim and family know you are in our thoughts and prayers as you grieve the loss of a wonderful woman. You will have many beautiful memories to share. May you be graced with all you need in the difficult times ahead. And may you honour Beverly by carrying her many good qualities that have been mentioned in the obituary and others messages.

We are shocked and saddened at her loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Our deepest condolences to you Jim for your loss.

We met Bev and Jim on an Alaskan cruise. It was 'love' at first meeting. Bev lights up a room, and the affection that Jim and Bev had for each other was very evident. We got to know one another very well on that trip and built a friendship that is very special to us. We got lucky to meet up with them again when they passed 'nearby' in San Francisco on another cruise. We cherish those memories dearly. It's a huge relief to know that Bev is now in the presence of God and that we will get to spend eternity with her one day. We are, however, sad to be without her here, and especially for Jim to be without his true love. Our love to the entire family that we don't know, but we are certain loved Bev and are certain that Bev loved! Love is a good word for her. Bev = love. Love = Bev. Forever in our hearts... Ken & Tracy from California!

Life is a amazing journey that can be full of all sorts of ups and downs, but every once and a while, out of the blue and when you least expect it, you will meet truly special people like Bev & Jim. Yes ever since Bev & Jim moved into the Holash Way St neighbourhood, you would see Bev & Jim out for their walks, bike rides or just enjoying life together, but never to busy to stop and chat which we have always very much enjoyed. To Jim & both of your blended families, what can we say,.... other than the world has lost a true angel of a lady in Bev. I realize that no words can ease the pain and sense of loss that you must be feeling at this time, but we hope you find great peace & strength as you reminisce and reflect back on the many, many special times you shared together and all the memories you shall have for ever & ever. Yes we all shall dearly miss Bev. Our thoughts & prayers are with you & your Family Jim
