Lance Thomas Winters

February 8th, 2013

Lance passed peacefully on February 08, 2013 at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 59. He will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen; daughter, Angela Winters; two sons, Jason Winters, and Nicholas Winters; five grandchildren; two brothers, Vance and Perry and his sister Alesa Winters. Lance was born in Stettler and grew up in the Donalda area, where his parents (Alfred & Jewell Winters) farmed. Lance worked on the oil rigs before starting his own trucking company. He married and moved to Sylvan Lake, and continued to truck his remaining years. He loved his family and his job where he had many experiences and met many friends. Many will remember his handle "Casper" and his driven nature. At his request, there will be no Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society, 200, 1301 - 8 Street SW, Calgary, AB, T2R 1B7.

Messages:

Lance I still look at every gravel truck around I love you but I can't see you in the trucks any more. I want to touch and feel your face so bad it hurts. I always thought you'd be here for ever. But one thing you told me you always loved me was enough for me till the end of my time Our baby would be forty in April as you know please keep him safe please

We have just lost another good friend whom we have known for many years and how we share your grief. May the God of all comfort be with you Karen, Jason, Angela and Nick and family, during this very painful time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. You are not alone in your pain-we miss him as well and feel the loss of a good friend. Reality has set in as we saw his picture in the Sylvan paper. Lance, was persistent and learned to be an overcomer no matter what obstacles life threw in his path. He quietly endured trials and refused to succumb to or look for sympathy. He learned perseverance and endurance and those are character traits to be admired. He had a kind heart, friendly smile and how we will miss his honking horn as he drove by our place. He was a hardworking man who was definitely old school in his upbringing-to teach his family by example -that hard work and being a provider for his wife and family were his main goals in life. He was a straight shooter-said what he meant-didn't have to figure him out. He had a great sense of pride in his family and the mention of each one brought him joy. He was truly blessed with a stand by your man-type of woman, Karen-who stood by him-for better or for worse, richer or poor, in sickness or in health, until death do they part. Karen, you are a good testimony of committment-before God-to your marriage vows and have passed the test. Grace and strength to you and your family, one day at a time. This is John and Dels time to say -goodbye Lance, gonna miss you and thanks for your friendship along with my best friend Karen and your beautiful family, for many years. Lots of good memories-Hawaii to boot!

To Karen & Family; On behalf of myself & Burnco,I would like to offer our sincere condolences. Lance was certainly an asset to the company as he always operated with upmost professionalism. Whenever you saw "CASPER" coming down the road you knew you would always be greeted with a wave & a smile. On a personal level, Lance was always a pleasure to work with and willing to take on any challenge that was presented to him. Lance will be truly missed, not only as a fellow worker, but as a friend.
