MUIR, Gladys Eilene

September 21, 1926 – April 19, 2022

It is with great sadness and much love that the family announces that at the age of 95, Gladys passed away peacefully on April 19, 2022.

She leaves behind her son, Roy (Joy); her daughters, Sharon (John) and Carol; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her dearly.  Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband Bob in 2009 after over 60 wonderful years together.

Gladys was born in Duchess Alberta and is the last surviving member of Jack and Elsie Hale’s nine children.

Gladys always had an open door, a coffee pot brewing and a chair ready for anyone who needed it - usually with a crib board close at hand. Her kindness and comfort touched so many people, and she will forever be with us in the treasured memories we have of her. ‘Gladys’, ‘Mom’, ‘Gramma’, ‘GG’ and ‘Aunty’… she was, and always will be, dearly loved by anyone who knew her.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the kind and compassionate staff at Hillcrest Extendicare and to Gladys’ very special caregivers Linda, Tracy and Kayla.

Messages:

Oh dear sweet Gladys. Our family knew Gladys from the years she and Bob attended Crossfield Baptist Church. I looked back in our phone directories to see if I could figure out the number of years that was. I found them in the 1985 directory, my mom's copy (May MacDonald). I was a busy mom, then, but remember her to always have a smile and a word of affirmation for me. I remember her participation as a helper with our 'Camping with Moses' Vacation Bible School program where we were guiding 150 town kids through making bricks in Egypt to crossing the Red Sea in the games area. She was 'game' for it all! I know my mom appreciated her friendship. I visited her at when she moved to Airdrie but 'lost her' after that. Little Alma Kersch kept me posted from time to time. I do miss that generation who managed change in their lives with such grace. You had 95 years to be loved by her and to learn from her....you will have a treasure chest of enduring memories. Roy, Joy, Sharon,John & Carol. We are sorry to hear the passing of Aunt Gladys. Our condolences are with all of the family. We will cherish many fond memories of her. She was a wonderful kind lady.

Charlie and I have wonderful memories of your Mother. We were neighbours for many years, in Crossfield. Gladys and Bob treated our boys like they were there Grandkids..We will cherish these memories always. Your Mom and Dad are together again. They are making others smile in Heaven now. Patty & Charlie
