Nicholas "Nick" Paul Revak

Nicholas (Nick) Paul Revak of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020 at 51 years of age.
Nick will be sadly missed by his loving wife and best friend Aimee, their much loved son Rowen, by his father Robert Revak, brother Chris (Gabriela) Revak, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and dear friends who had the privilege of crossing paths with Nick over the decades. Nick was pre-deceased by his mother Julia Revak in 2008.
Nick was born in 1969 at the old Grace Hospital in the City of Calgary and graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School in 1987. Nick spent some time studying at the UofC before deciding to obtain his cabinetmaker certification from SAIT.
Nick's true passion was history and he was an avid reader. He was well known for his quick wit and generosity. For several years he acted as President of the Colonel Walker Community School Association. He became a member of the Model Aeronautics Association of Canada so that he could start a Junior Flight Club to teach kids to build and fly rubber powered aircraft. He loved teaching kids about history, science, fishing and construction of the perfect fort. When camping he always had at least six fishing rods and a toolbox full of hand tools to help the kids build forts.

I didn’t know you long Nick, but enough to know that the gifts you are leaving behind are tremendous. Getting the kids out the door to school in the morning took all my wits but you got Rowan to our house with yours still in tact because you would soon have me laughing at something you would say to the kids. How was the sandwich trip? (Did you know Hawaii had been called the sandwich islands?) If not making me laugh, you could be helping me brush up on my wood working skills in the midst of YOUR volunteering to build the shed for the school. I hope you received excellent care in your time of utmost need.
I met Nick when volunteering on the Colonel Walker school council - a wonderful, kind man with a great sense of humour. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to Aimee, Rowan and family. He will be missed.

Aimee , Rowen and family. It's always hard to know what to say at these times. Sorry is never enough. I read stories on here about how funny and kind he was. He always had a smile when I chatted with him. We talked about making "whatever" one day and how awesome it is to make things from wood. He said I could come use his tools and garage anytime. How nice is that! You will be missed by many. Aimee and Rowen, keep your memories close in your hearts, speak of him often. I'm so sorry.
Nick was just a class act. Funny, kind, creative, wildly smart, and knew a good pun when he saw an opportunity to throw one in. He will be greatly missed.
As I skimmed through the obituaries in the Calgary Herald this morning I came across the one regarding Nick. I want to send you, the family and friends, of Nick first, a word of condolence and secondly, just to let you he is remembered by myself as a great person/student at Queen Elizabeth School. As a teacher at QE (PE 1978-2008) I dealt with many students. Some are forgotten by me but Nick is not. I am so sorry for your loss and pray that you will be blessed with many happy memories of your years with Nick! Sincerely, Myron Masterson

Nik was a great gentleman and will be dearly missed. We camped with Nik, Aimee and Rowan. Nik was always stoking the fire and was up early to start it for everyone. He was always willing to give you seat by the fire if you arrived late. Nik loved his pistachio and campfire snacks that he would share. He taught my girls how to fish and had the patience to deal with many kids at one time. He played games with the kids and taught them different strategies. I would tease him and say he would have been a great teacher, which is what I do. But he would always laugh it off and give me props for doing my job. Aimee , Rowen and family, My most sincere condolences for your loss of Nick. He was a truly remarkable person always going the extra mile to be helpful in anyway he could, and always being kind to others. He will be greatly missed. CWP wouldn’t have been the same without him. Sandy Pippus.
I met Nick about 5 years ago when he came with his wife and son to my salon for haircuts. I always enjoyed his company as he was full of interesting stories about his adventures and his carpentry skills. He was a kind loving and devoted husband and father. He was funny and generous. I always looked forward to seeing him. I will miss him so much . It’s hard to loose a client when they leave but loosing Nick this way and so young is terribly sad and heart breaking. My love, thoughts and prayer go out to his lovely wife Aimee and her son Rowan .
