Brendan Tomboulian

September 13th, 2023

Brendan was welcomed into this world on December 26, 1984, and his beautiful soul left us too soon on September 13, 2023, at the age of 38.

While still a young child, it became apparent that Brendan was developing and behaving differently than other children, confounding his parents, doctors and teachers. With the clarity of Brendan’s renowned child psychologist, Brendan was initially diagnosed with autism and then more specifically Asperger’s syndrome.

Medical science trailed Brendan’s development, however, over time, societal inclusiveness advanced to embrace individuals like Brendan and we learned to accept his differences and challenges and embrace him as neuro-atypical with special cognitive gifts.

Like the character Dustin Hoffman played in the movie Rainman, Brendan had eidetic memory and was able to instantly tell you the day of the week and weather conditions for any day since 1995. He was gifted in hearing a piece of music and laying it down from memory to the piano. Brendan was fond of horseback riding, physical fitness, language and vocabulary, his piano, his kitties and enjoying epicurean delights. As he matured, he increasingly enjoyed socializing with his people. He was a curious delight to all he interacted with, very likeable, never aggressive nor ungrateful.

Brendan is survived by his parents and two brothers, Evan and Justin, as well as a loving community of friends, family and professionals. Donations in Brendan’s name can be made to Vela Canada, Inclusion Langley and/or Autism Canada.

All are welcome to Brendan’s Memorial Service at 3PM on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services | 3070 275A Street, Aldergrove, B.C., V4W 3L4.
