Isabella (Née Duffy) Slater, born September 1, 1933, in Port-Glasgow, Scotland;  passed away on August 25, 2023, peacefully surrounded by family.  Isabella was predeceased by her husband James Vincent Slater of 62 years.  We celebrate her life and accomplishments and she will be eternally cherished in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Isabella is survived by her children Anne Marie Slater, John Slater (Deborah), and Julie Anne Slater, her beloved grandchildren Michael (Jamie), Andrew, Mark, and Maya-Róisín and her great-grandchildren Nathan and Brody. Her remaining sister Anne (Cliff) Newbery in Australia, and extended family in the UK, Ireland, and Scotland will remember her with fondness.

Her friends in Canada remember her beautiful laugh and extraordinary devotion to family, and the daily kindness she shared with old friends and new ones.  Isabella retired as a Manager at ICBC Head Office in North Vancouver; she was a strong advocate for equality and fair play.

She was a great card maker, a fantastic knitter, and adored the company of the children in her life, supporting lifelong readers and sharing the best children’s books and stories.

The family would like to thank Father Pablo Santa Maria and the caregivers at South Granville Lodge for their support and kindness.
