Christina Elizabeth Pereda

June 22nd, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dearest Christina Pereda on June 22, 2023. She left this earth surrounded by the love of her family and dearest friends.  Christina was born in Tillsonburg Ontario March 1951 to the late Carl Underhill and Dorothy Holmes. She is survived by her son Jeremy Peralta, sister Esther Irwin, brother James Underhill, stepsister Karen Bethune, stepmother Edythe Underhill, as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with her family, Christina will be remembered by her many friends and social groups and missed dearly by her boyfriend Patric Yakura.  She had a huge heart and enriched the lives of those she touched.

Christina, a self proclaimed “old hippie”, enjoyed living life fully. As a young woman she spread her wings early living in several cities across Canada.  She made many lifelong friends during her time on “Gothic Avenue” before eventually settling in BC where she lived majority of her years. Christina had a great appreciation for other cultures which she enjoyed during her many travels. She was passionate about helping others and made friends wherever her travels took her. She loved to be active, playing golf and walking the White Rock promenade daily.  Christina also loved blues music and will be greatly missed on the dance floor wherever live music is played.

A celebration of life will be held in White Rock at the Crescent Beach Legion on September 21 at 3pm. A separate celebration of life for close friends and family will also be held in Ontario at a later date.

My Mom introduced us to Cristina Pereda 29 years ago. Cristina was married to Ernesto Pereda (RIP), from Uruguay. Long story short, we my sister, my Mama and I got to know Cristina and share beautiful birthday parties , Club Uruguay dances and Christmas. But most of all, Cristina and my Mama Norma became very good friends. They travelled together, they share good times, good food and mostly each other’s company . As the years went by , Cristina always made sure to see my Mama once a month for dinner. The last time we saw Cristina was this past April for my mothers birthday celebration. Cristina looked beautiful!! Cristina will always be remembered with lots of love !!! RIP Cristina you will be unforgettable, with all my love and forever friendship. I know that where you are, you can see me and hear me. Friends for ever, Norma❤️

She was my best friend. We did many things together, like camping, dancing, going for happy hour and dinner, walking at the promenade, dinner a my place. I’m missing her a lot. Sometimes I think of her as if she was still here. We shared a common language Spanish. She love to talk to me in Spanish. Dear friend it is very hard not having a phone call from you saying, do you want to go for a walk, happy hour….. ? Rest in peace my dear friend Love all ways Julie Pelegrín
