Veronica Alexis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Veronica Alexis (Duncan), on June 30th 2016, at her home in her 72nd year.

Veronica is survived by her husband James and children Beverly, Leslie, Kathleen, Laurence (Kyleen), Brian and Maki. Grandchildren Charles (Bianca), Latasha, Cathy (Rafawn), Brandon, Ghassan, Nigel, Adam, Tarif, Chanelle, Blue and Lacey. Along with many brothers, sisters, nephew and nieces.

Veronica was born and raised in Tobago. Veronica had many opportunities to move to the United States but always wanted to come to Canada.  The opportunity came and Veronica moved to Nelson, BC in November of 1969. In 1972, she met James when she returned home for her cousin's wedding. James and Veronica were married in 1973.

In Canada, Veronica worked as a professional cook until 1980. In 1980, she went into sales and worked at Electrolux Canada until 1987. During her years at Electrolux she received countless trophies, awards and gifts for being the #1 woman salesperson in Canada. In 1987, she went on to sell insurance and received accolades for the highest ranking sales for many years.

She eventually moved on to work as a Homestay Coordinator, where she enjoyed meeting and placing international students into local homes. Veronica opened her home up to many students and developed lasting friendships with many students from Korea and Japan. Veronica and James made two trips to South Korea and considered it their home.

Veronica, her parents and siblings became Christians when she was nine years old. She was a devote Christian. She was involved in her church and whenever she could, she would take the time to share the gospel and pray for people.

Veronica was a kind, caring and compassionate woman who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by her family and fiends.

The Memorial Service and reception is on Wednesday, at 11:00 am, July 13 and will be held at Fraserview Church,11295 Mellis Dr., Richmond, BC (Off Shell and Cambie - parking at the back).  Prior to the service there will be a viewing starting 10:30 am.  The Burial will be held at Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery, 14850 28th Avenue, Surrey, BC at 2:00pm.
