Racey Harry Thompson

1954 - 2024

Racey Thompson of Ituna, SK, passed away peacefully on March 11/2024 at the Ituna Pioneer Health Center.
Racey Thompson was born on July 12/1954 to Harry and Rachael Thompson (Martin). Racey received his schooling in the ol’ red brick building, School was not his favorite past time he would rather stay home to help his dad with chores and field work. By the time Racey was 15 years old he owned his own livestock and was starting to grain farm by the young age of 18 years old. Racey enjoyed 4-h where he joined in gymkana, with his favorite horse “Jett”.
On May long of 1979, Racey met the love of his life Twyla. They were joined in wed in April of 1981, together they built “their” forever home on the family farm. Racey built it with his own hands along with the help of family and friends. After completing their forever home, they were blessed with their son Jarrett (1984), and few years later their second son Kyle (1986). Racey and Twyla enjoyed traveling together, and later in life really took in the camping trips.
After selling the livestock in 1975, Racey worked off the farm at various jobs, doing carpentry in Regina, such as framing and renovating houses, he later built elevators for Saskatchewan wheat pool all while counting to grain farm with his parents.
Racey enjoyed every minute he could and took every chance he could to teach his sons how to farm, spending many hours with the boys fixing or having them in the field with him. Racey was the type of neighbour or friend that anyone could call and no matter what he had to do, he was always willing to give them a hand with what they needed. Racey was very proud of his cattle and eventually at one point running his own feedlot.
In 2018 Racey was blessed and gained the title of “papa”. Racey enjoyed every minute he could with his twin grandchildren. Racey was proud to watch Kian & Arianna grow. he often had them at the coral or in the farm equipment showing them and teaching them about the farm. Racey seldomly missed anything that involved the twins, as most would know “they were the apple of his eyes”. Racey was very proud of his grandchildren.
Racey is now reunited with his wife Twyla (2022), Father Harry (1999) and Mother Rachael (2022).
He leaves to cherish his memories his sons Jarrett (Ami), Kyle (Alicia) and their twins Arianna & Kian of Ituna. As well as numerous extended family and friends.
Donations in Racey Thompson memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s society.
