Monte Noel Barrett

February 18th, 2024

Monte Barrett, aged 76, passed away suddenly on February 18, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret, daughter Shae (Chad) Heffernan, and son Taylor (Amy Mummery). He was predeceased by his parents Floyd and Athalie; sisters-in-law Carol, Darcy and Dawna; brother-in-law Dale; nephew Sean; niece Rosemary; and great-nephews Prescott and Scott.

Monte will be remembered fondly by his siblings Lynden, Shannon (Sid) Davis, Shelley Loney, Darrell, Marlys Upton, and Kerry, as well as by his nieces, nephew, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Monte's life was marked by cherished traditions and shared moments with loved ones. He relished hunting trips with his brothers, often followed by weekends dedicated to sausage making. Weekly gatherings for Friday lunches, Sunday curling, and Wednesday "therapy" sessions brought him immense joy.

In retirement, Monte found delight in traveling, especially to curling events and destinations like Europe, Australia and New Zealand. He particularly enjoyed river cruises, where, as he would joke, the "hotel came with us."

Dedicated to providing for others, Monte spent his career in civil service, retiring in 2008, and then served on the board of Help Homes for the past 6 years.

We would like to sincerely thank the ambulance attendants and the staff of Regina General Hospital Emergency, Coronary ICU and Surgical ICU for their heroic efforts in caring for Monte and for the care and compassion shown to us. They helped to ease a very difficult day.

Please join us as we honor Monte's life and legacy. A celebration of Monte’s life will take place at the Serb Club in Regina (2775 Avonhurst Dr.) on Saturday, February 24 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Monte’s memory can be made to Help Homes (helphomes.ca).
