In Loving memory of Vaughn Maskell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vaughn Maskell, a beloved father, brother, papa and friend, who left this world on Saturday, August 13th, at the age of 72. Vaughn's journey in this life may have come to an end, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Vaughn was born to Betty and Ken Maskell. He shared his life with his siblings, Dan (Marg) Maskell, LeRoy (Boo) Maskell, Patsy (Dave) Allison, and Ken (Sandy) Maskell.  And his children Jennifer (Sean) Maskell, Erica (Ben) Glover, and Michael Maskell. His cherished granddaughter, Ashley Glover, brought new joy to his life and he treasured every moment spent with her.

He was kind and generous and most of all, Vaughn loved his family.  He had great affection for his nieces and nephews, loving nothing more than to make them laugh. He taught the little ones to fish, the older ones to tie flies, and he taught them all to play poker.  Vaughn could often be heard grumbling about being too old while picking blueberries and currants for family members.  He lovingly built cedar block chests for family until his health prevented him from continuing.  No one left his home without batch of spaghetti sauce and a bag of fresh veggies from his garden. He attended birthday parties, soccer matches and hockey games. He helped anyone who asked however he could.

In this time of mourning, as we say goodbye to Vaughn, we also celebrate a life that touched us all with lessons on the importance of family, laughter, and generosity. He will be missed.

In accordance with Vaughn's wishes there will be no formal funeral service. Those who wish to honour his memory may consider making a donation to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or to DunRoamin (Stray and Rescue).

Rest in peace, Old Man.
