Eva Eckert

Eva Eckert passed away at home on January 6, 2023 at the age of 102. She was born on a farm southwest of Carlyle, Saskatchewan on July 16, 1920 and moved to Carlyle at a young age. Eva married Art Eckert on his return from the war in 1946 and they lived in Carlyle until 1972 when they moved to Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1991 they moved to Kinookimaw, Saskatchewan.

Eva was predeceased by her parents Frank and Violet George; her brothers Cecil, Harvey and Norman; and by her sister Ruby. She is survived by her son Murray Eckert and her daughter Myrna (Jack) Wilkie; her grandchildren Meghan (Jason) Duke, John Wilkie (Dani Ing) and Joe Wilkie (Hailey McCrystal); her 4 great-grandchildren Ayla and Bowen Duke and Weston and Ozzie Wilkie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the compassionate and caring home care workers and nurses, as well as special friends Patsy, Bev, Sandy and Cathy who greatly helped Murray, Eva’s son and long-time caregiver, to fulfill Eva’s wish to remain in her home.

At Eva’s request, no funeral will be held. A Celebration of Life and a private interment will follow at later dates. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation (www.hrf.sk.ca), #225 - 1874 Scarth Street, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4P 4B3.

Murray, Myrna and family. We are so sorry for your loss. Ma was such a pleasure to be around; we were fortunate to be with her and share many laughs, morning chats and card games in Palm Springs and Fairmont. She will be dearly missed.

Heartfelt condolences to Murray , Myrna and Family. Eva was one great lady loved dearly by all those she touched. She loved life and lived it well with a smile . She was a credit to her community and she will be missed dearly.
