Margaret Gertie Markel

June 18th, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, sister in-law, and treasured friend Margaret Markel just shy of her 90th birthday.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Carl; her parents John and Elizabeth; her four sisters Leana, Mary, Barbara and Helen; and her son-in-law Rod. Left behind to lovingly remember her are her sons Gerry (Laurie) and Dennis (Linda); her daughter Connie; her grandchildren Terry (Charlene), Christy (Greg) Jody, Cameron (Erin), Patrick, Owen, O’Rian, Dinae (Matt), Dylan and Taylor; and her pride and joy great-grandchildren Jason, Lucas, Molly, Jasmine, Lincoln, Talen, Lillia, Isabel, Zack, Brandon and Jacob; her brother-in-law Robert Fuchs: as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret will always be warmly remembered for her kind heart, her sense of humour, her wonderful love of animals (especially pups), home cooking, messy sewing rooms... and for always speaking her mind. Margaret was born on a farm near Lajord, SK, the second youngest of five girls and grew up helping her Dad around the farm as the son he never had. Although she didn’t get her license until much later in her adult life, she was driving a tractor like a pro before she was ten. Margaret met the love of her life Carl on a blind date when she was eighteen years old. After having two children on the farm they moved to Regina where their third child was born. Margaret enjoyed her time spent at the family cabin at Island View and camping in the old school bus. Margaret was a very special lady to all that knew her and we already miss her terribly.

The family would like to send a very sincere thank you to all the Staff at Sunset Extendicare, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Regina Human Society.

A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at a later date.
