Colleen Fletcher

July 2nd, 2021

Colleen Fletcher (nee Stack) passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on July 2, 2021.

Mom was born in Minton, Saskatchewan and after graduating high school moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where she spent the rest of her life.

She shared many stories about growing up on the farm in Minton and her beloved horse named Kitten.

Mom travelled back to Minton many times over the years to visit old friends, attend Sports Days, Fall Fairs and her high school reunion.

She began her career at the Grey Nuns Hospital, later to be known as the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan. She spent over 30 years working as a Nursing Assistant and later on as a Ward Clerk in the Intensive Care Unit.

Mom absolutely loved dancing and spent countless days and nights at local senior’s dances.  She was even spotted a time or two dancing with a nurse in her room at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.

She was an avid Riders fan. On game day she would get her jersey on, buy a bag of Munchie Party Mix, and settle in to watch the game. There would be many phone calls back and forth between her and her brother Kurt as they argued about calls made or cheered on a great play.

The only thing better than watching the Riders was cheering on her Grandsons in their many sporting events. There she would be, sitting front and center, packed with gear for every possible weather condition. She loved those boys so much.

A real source of joy for Mom these last few months were visits from my dog Leo who would accompany me to Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. As soon as he walked in the room her eyes would light up. Leo would sit at her bedside, paw in her lap and wait patiently for the crackers she would feed him.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Joe and Frances Stack; brother Kurt Stack; sisters Linda Byhette and Marlene Symons.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie Brown; son-in-law Cory; grandsons Chase, Brady (Stephanie), Dustin and Cody; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Moms last 5 1/2 years have been filled with many health challenges that she faced with her feisty spirit right until the end.

Thank you to Dr. McMillan for the exceptional care and kindness you had given to my Mom.

To the Wascana Rehabilitation Team on Unit 2-6 that cared for Mom the last 5 years, I have no words to thank you enough. Not only did you take great care of my Mom, you took great care of me as well. I appreciate all the hugs and words of encouragement and comfort that always came when I needed it most. You went above and beyond ---- God Bless you all.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Chapel Grove Cemetery, Minton, Saskatchewan.

Rest in peace Mom, we will always love and remember you.

To honor Mom’s final wishes memorial contributions may be mailed to Teddy Bears Anonymous, 7711 Discovery Rd, Regina SK S4Y 1E8 or online at www.teddybearsanonymous.ca.  or Diabetes Canada, 917A Albert St., Regina SK S4R 2P6.

Messages:

My condolences to your family. I worked with your mom many years ago (1974-1977). She was a great Ward Clerk. I always felt sure that all that paperwork would be processed correctly. I just enjoyed her as a person.

Your Mom was such a fun person. We had lots of good visits at functions we attended over the years. Years ago when my husband Eddie was seriously ill your Mom called me on the mornings to tell me how he was doing in ICU She was working in the Pasqua and I couldn’t be there as I had young children on the farm at Minton. She knew Kurt and Eddie were great friends and even though she hadn’t met me she called me to report on him in the mornings. She was so kind. I’ll never forget her.

Our deepest condolences on Colleens passing She was a very good friend to our family From Bob Ruschiensky Elaine Myers Lois Ruschiensky (Donnys wife)

Sorry to hear of your Moms passing. The Stack family has always had a special place in my heart. I bought the Stack farm from Kurt and siblings after Joe passed. My sympathies to the family. Love you all.

So sorry to hear about your mom passing away. She attended every Birthday Party I held for my mom. Also, the events that there was for people who came from our Home town of Minton. I would see her at the Hockey Rink & Baseball Games that she attended watching her Grandsons. Condolences from myself & family. Shirley Herman

Our condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mother. "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, But by the moments that take our breath away"

So sorry for your loss. She’s free from those health challenges and back with her brother. If she was as feisty and fun as him (he’d come to visit me at the Credit Union), they’ll be stirring it up now that they’re together again. Remember her well. ❤️

I am saddened to read of your loss. It also brought back a string of memories of trips to Sask for events and activities that brought us together at various times over the years. The memories and feelings that come with them brightened my day. May your thoughts of Colleen also brighten your days ahead. Rob

Very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I have fond memories of her over the years! One that I remember as a kid was her driving mom, Jeff and I around in Regina with a VW beetle!! It made cross country rally look quite tame !! Give our regards to all of your family. Gerry and Janet
