Steve Bulka

January 18, 2021

Steve Bulka

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Steve on January 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his grandson Elliot, son-in-law Bob Patterson and his brother Joe. Left to cherish Dad’s memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Maria; daughters Darcy Patterson (Terry) and grandchildren Skylar and Tristin, Shelley Vass (Carey) and grandchildren Matthew (Rachel), Lyndon and Chelsea Kelly (Brad) and great- grandchildren Gracie and Hallie; Sandra Fazakas (Terry) and grandchildren Courtlyn (Brett), Brayden (Becky) and great-grandchild Brandt, Brooklyn (Drew); her sisters Mary Bentz, Anne Eggleston (Phil), Yolanda Schultz, Liz Macza (Garry); her brothers George (Dorothy) and Frank (Shirley).

Dad was born July 22, 1934 at the farm in Leross, Saskatchewan.  He eventually moved a short way down the road to Lestock where he met Maria. They were married June 16, 1962. Steve spent most of his life in Lestock where he and Maria raised their 3 daughters. He had a variety of jobs. He was a mechanic at the Co-op Service Station, school bus driver, maintenance man at the Lestock Hospital, and caretaker at the Lestock School. He looked after the town cemeteries for 30 years and delivered the mail for Canada Post for 34 years. He was a guy that loved to be busy, rarely taking a day off. Dad was always there to help someone in need and was a reliable volunteer at Mary Queen of Hearts Roman Catholic Church, helping with yard work, setting up for Pilgrimage and other events. Did we mention he loved to cut grass?

The only thing Steve loved more than work was his family. There was countless suppers and celebrations at the family home. He cherished every moment with his family, especially his grandchildren. In later years you could always see the joy on his face and feel the love in his heart while he reminisced, watching the many home movies he made and collected over the years of the family he loved so much. ‘The hockey game is not important – put in a home movie’ that was our Dad.

Your life’s journey is complete, but you will forever live on in our hearts and memories.

A private family service was held. Interment will be held at a later date in the Lestock Cemetery, Lestock SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Raymore Silver Heights Special Care Home.
