Bruce Anthony Conley

March 3rd, 2020

It is with profound sadness the family of Bruce Conley announces his passing after a prolonged illness on March 3, 2020 in Regina, SK. Bruce was predeceased by his father Van. Left to treasure his memory are his wife and soulmate Susan; daughters Alex and Rachel; mother Mary; his brothers Warren (Romina) and Doug (Bonnie); niece Valentina and nephews Christopher and Derek.

Bruce was born and raised in Regina and began music lessons at the age of 6 years at the ABC Music Academy taking on the accordion as Dad's first instrument of choice. He moved on to the old reed organ in Mom and Dad's basement, writing music for competitions in Regina, winning many awards and trophies along the way. Regina Separate School band came next and Bruce chose the saxophone, this was his favorite instrument and would play it in many many bands and many many gigs for years to come.

Bruce and Susan's home is a sanctuary for at risk youth and Bruce was always very supportive and welcoming of the many youth that passed through the doors to their home. Bruce loved their company and thoroughly enjoyed having someone to grow up with. Amy-Louise, Hannah and Sheyenne were three special youth that Bruce really loved. They had amazing compassion for Bruce. Bruce was always happy to see them.

Alex joined the family in 2008 and has been entwined with Bruce and Sue ever since. Bruce and Alex enjoyed attending many concerts and had many deep philosophical musical discussions lasting to the wee hours. They loved watching Wonders of the Universe and this prompted many debates about the nature of everything. He loved her dearly and he will always be her "Pops"!

Rachel was another youth that Bruce formed a special bond with. To this day he will always be referred to as her "Dad". Rachel had visited Bruce from Vancouver before he passed away. She was very important to him and he was very happy to see and spend time with her while she visited. He loved her dearly.

Bruce and Susan spent a beautiful 3 year adventure as expat Canadians in Barbados. Bruce played his sax with many bands during his time on the island forming lifelong friendships and memories along the way.

Bruce had an immense love of animals and was always rescuing stray dogs, having 4 dogs at once at one point. Cisco was his boy!

Tutan is a very special ICU nurse at the Regina General Hospital. She will always be remembered for her sense of humour and amazing spirit. I will always remember her calling Bruce "Papa Smurf" and saying to Bruce, Papa was a rolling stone. Thank you for your kindness towards Bruce!

Bruce will be deeply missed and his memories will be cherished by his wife Susan and the rest of his family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. in Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2020.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to the Regina Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Messages:

Bruce was one of my closest friends during high school. We met thru band, and spent six years in school making music together, and just generally wreaking havoc on the city of Regina and Fort San. We had endless adventures as we grew up. He was always up for fun anytime, and usually was the ringleader! Life took us in different directions after school but every time we ran into each other turned into an epic party. I miss him now terribly, and wish all of his family and friends my deepest sympathies. I wish we could have played one more tune together.

My memories of Bruce are deep and wide and oh so precious! The way you and Bruce opened your heart and home to me remind me every day what it means to be a true friend! I am deeply saddened for your and Bruces' family and loved one's loss! I hope the memories and knowledge of a love so bright sustain you over the weeks and years to come! One quick story of Bruce to share! I worked for the govt of AB and one day as I was sitting at my desk with all the professionals, Bruce came around the corner walking on his hands to my desk! He always knew how to make an entrance! Everyone at my work talked about that for years! Peace and Love ~ Pam

Every time it storms I think about the second time I ever met you and sue and remember that day so well because you took a pot from the kitchen and went running around in the backyard with it on your head making all of us laugh because we could hear the hail pinging off of the pot. I thank you and sue for showing Alex what love is through good times and bad, leading her in the right direction one day at a time. I’m truly sorry for everyone’s loss I know no words will sooth their pain just one day at a time he wouldn’t want you to be hurt he wouldn’t want to see you cry. He would turn your storm into a great memory. I’m sooo sooo sorry sue I know Bruce wasn’t a ordinary man he was your soulmate and best friend and a slightly crazy one at that but we all need a little craziness in our life’s.. he sure knew how to make everyone smile. RIP

Sending our condolences to you and your family. Thinking of you at this sad time. Hold onto the memorable times you shared together.

Dear Sue Andy and I want to send our deepest condolences to you and to Bruce’s family. We will be forever grateful for the selfless giving and kindness you have shown our niece, Alex. We will always be family. R.I.P. Bruce ❤️

One of the kindest, sweetest and warmest people the world has seen. Gone far to soon. Love you Bruce..

My condolences to all of Bruce’s family. It was always a special treat to share the stage with Bruce over the years. He was so talented and always helped us bring our performances to the next level. He taught me so much as a young performer starting out - in fact, he was on stage with me my first time ever singing with a live band. The world has lost a bright and loving soul. Rest In Peace now Bruce.
