HAMILTON, Doreen Lavina

June 28, 1931 - March 14, 2022

Doreen Hamilton passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at her home in Aspen Ridge Revera, Red Deer at the age of 90 years.

Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Vern (Dana), Merv (Janine), Norm (Pat), Kerry (Rhonda) and Rick (Rhonda); her grandchildren, Travis, Brant, Amanda, Amber, Lyndsey, Jamie, Robyn, Courtney, Elijah, Sarah, Jeremiah, Lydia and Priscilla; and her great-grandchildren, Brody, Jaden, Bryce, Avery, Calla, Hunter, Colt, Autumn, Piper, Liam, Kaden, Arya, Thorin, Cohen, Emmett and Ezra. Doreen is survived by her sisters, Elsie Wilson of Leduc, Doris Giltner of Camrose; and brother, Harold Osborne of Kneehill County.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jim; her parents Bill and Stella Osborne; her brothers, Bud and Harvey Osborne; and her sister, Eleanor Ferguson.

Doreen was always a lady on the go and loved to organize and participate in family, social and community activities. She loved dancing of any kind and continued to square dance until ill health forced her to retire the skirts in 2019.

Doreen also loved to travel and made many trips to the U.S.A., Alaska and across Canada and also travelled to the Philipines, Hawaii and Australia. She also wintered for many years in Arizona, until declining health forced her to remain in Canada for the winters. She spent many happy days in the motorhome where she enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, hiking, playing games and generally having more fun than anyone else. Doreen was typically the “life of the party” and was happiest amidst a large group of people. For many years, she was the glue that held her siblings together and up until her passing she still retained that special bond with her twin.

Doreen lived most of her life in the Alix, Nevis, Stettler area, then moved to Camrose for a few years before retiring in Red Deer. For the past three years she was a resident of Aspen Ridge Revera when she could no longer live independently. Her health declined at that time and continued to decline until her passing.

At Doreen’s request, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 100, 119 – 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6 or to Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB
