BERG, Calvin Earl

APRIL 21, 1953 – March 6, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we mourn the passing of Calvin Berg of Red Deer on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the age of 68.

He will be lovingly remembered by his partner in life, Lucille Campbell; children, Jace of Edmonton and Leila (Darcy) of Sarnia, Ontario; brothers, Kerry (Marg) Berg of Medicine Hat, Brad (Sharon) of Oyen and Greg Berg of Innisfail; as well as all of his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Erling & Judy Berg; and his daughter, Shereen.

Calvin had a love of people, music and travel. His music started with a guitar and learned to play by taking lessons from Lucille’s mom in the 60’s. He travelled to various parts of the globe with having Morocco and Panama as his favourites. He had a huge heart and would give his last dollar and bed to anyone that asked.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services for their compassion at this hard time in our lives.

Messages:

So sorry to hear this news. I hadn't seen Calvin since leaving high school in 1971 in Oyen, Alberta. I remember well his love for music and his band The Elastic Band. I remember being part of the stage crew along with Jimmy Mansfield who provided his pick-up truck for the equipment transportation. And along memory lanes I also remember Audrey Melnyk as the lead singer, Coral Yake on bass guitar, and Terry Hanewich on drums. Time flies ever so quickly, all too quickly. Rest in peace Calvin.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Calvin, My condolences to the Berg family, god bless

So sad to hear of your loss. May the many memories of Calvin bring you peace. You and your families are in our thoughts and prayers

So sorry to hear about Calvin. I remember hanging with Brad and getting to hear him playing his music. My condolences to Lucille and the Berg family.

Very sorry to hear of Cals passing. We were Classmates, baseball team mates, hockey team mates, and most of all Band mates. We started the Elastic Band in 1968 and had a super run of fun and music that still sticks with me. Many many hours were spent at Erling and Judys abode. Band practices, parties, and get togethers. I wish I could thank Cal to his friendly face.

We are sad to hear of your loss. Cal was a great guy, we enjoyed his visits and music.

I am so sorry about hearing about the passing of Calvin. My sincere condolences!

Deepest condolences and warmest thoughts. - the McKays

Calvin, we had many, many hours playing guitars arount the fire pit. Good times. Remember the "Oyen tennis club" we started, then got donations and put up lights so we could play at night. They were good times. We had fun. You'll be missed. Condolences and prayers to all friends and relatives. Hugs to Leila.

This is Don and Margaret’s daughter, Brenda Rumohr. My dad taught Calvin in school and many years later, Calvin called my dad and told him what a wonderful teacher he was and how he enjoyed all his jokes. Taking a few minutes out of his day to say this to him meant more than you’ll ever know! An act of kindness that will never be forgotten! Sincere sympathy to you all.

I am so very sorry to hear of Calvin’s passing. My deepest sympathies to all of his family. The Johnson’s
