Naturalist and Ardent Birder
With great sadness we announce Catherine’s unexpected passing on January 10, 2015, following complications after surgery and untreated Lyme disease. Her family was with her when she passed.
Born August 29, 1940 in Regina to Marguerite (Billie) and Lawrance Muirhead. Catherine was predeceased by her parents and her brother Gregory Muirhead. She is survived by her two children Angus Parkinson (Jude Kramer) of Nanaimo and Tara Parkinson (Paul Weyer) of Victoria, her sister Carol Muirhead of Courtenay, and Gregory’s wife Karen Ayers and children Lauren and Michael Muirhead of Victoria.
Graduating from the U of S in 1962 in Geology, Catherine had a varied career ranging from cultural, community and visual arts coordinator and retail sales manager in Ottawa, to residential realtor in Regina. She connected with people everywhere and had many friends. She enjoyed the arts, artists and musical events of all kinds, listening to CBC radio daily and encouraging others to do so. Catherine loved nature, whether visiting her grandfather’s Langbank farm or birding with Nature Regina. She was very proud of the oak trees she planted in Les Sherman Park, near where she had played as a child. Catherine was a life-long searcher for knowledge, truth, and spiritual growth, and a much-loved meditation teacher.
Thank you to the many friends who helped after Catherine’s passing. A celebration of her life will be held in Regina after the snow melts. Love and Light Catherine.
