Mike, I just found out yesterday (Oct 29/14) that you had passed on. I stopped at Sears to buy you coffee, and was saddened to hear the news. Our friendship was such that we often went months without meeting up, but you always knew when it was my turn to buy. I guess I'll owe you one. I recall when we first met, you were surprised that an old guy like me would want to work on the dock. You shook your head, but decided to take a chance. It wasn't work for me because your management style compensated for my aching muscles, and your Saturday morning phone calls brightened my day. I know you were only checking up on the guys (who showed up, who didn't), but you made your weekend crew feel like family, and they didn't want to let you down. I'll miss our little chats, and promise one day to make up for the missing coffee. My sincere condolences to your family and friends.
