Mary Alta Blair passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in Calgary, AB at the age of 49 years. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 23 years, Curtis Blair; parents, Ed and Leona Snihur of Red Deer; brothers, Laurence (Beryl) Lamoureux of Red Deer, Paul Lamoureux of Calgary, and Robert (Bonny) Snihur of Lacombe County; sisters, Arlene (John) Skrocki of Rocky Mountain House, Jeannette (Dan) Devine of Red Deer County and Diane (Glenn) Hicks Red Deer, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Anna Snihur-Skoreyko of Red Deer.

A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at the Calgary Living Word Assembly, corner of 84 Street & 114 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

AND

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at the Sheraton Red Deer Hotel, 3310 – 50 Avenue, Red Deer, AB on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

Mary was the best golf partner. Mary and I were paired together at the California Blind Golf Classic a few years ago. Mary and I proved that a round of blind golf does not have to take all day. We did not play our best that day but we did complete the round in 4 hours. Mary was a very fast player. She loved the game and the people she met. When Curtis and Mary came to San Antonio for the ABG National Championship she was loved and admired by everyone. Every year I am asked by the people at the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind if Mary will be here this year.

To Curtis and family, My sincerest condolences and heartfelt sympathy. I played a round of golf with Mary during the Inaugural Nations Cups Tournament and she was one of the most friendliest persons I have ever had the good fortune to meet. Thinking of you all during this difficult time.

Dear Curtis, I am so sorry for your loss. When I first saw Mark's message, I didn't realize about whom he was communicating. When I finally saw the age, I was surprised, and investigated further, and was so dismayed and shocked when I figured it out. I had so much fun (and I'm sure Brad did as well) with you and Mary in California, she is a very vibrant, enthusiastic, and wonderful person. Let me know if there is anything that you need that I can possibly help with. I haven't coached for a couple of years, but I do everything I can to still contribute to blind and disabled golf. Curtis ,I am so very sorry to read of Mary's passing. When I left Red Deer, Mary was one of those truly wonderful people that I had met that I truly missed. She was awe inspiring! She never let her disabilites get her down. She had a wonderful sense of humour, great laugh and could always find the time to to say a pleasantry to bring your spirits up. Mary showed the rest of the world that just because nature was not liking you very much, you could out run it if you had a mind to. She IS running free. My heart felt sympathies...

To reiterate what Bruce and Judy Hooper said - I had the privilege of meeting Mary and Curtis Blair at the ABG Tournament in San Antonio. She was absolutely so lovely and sweet - I would ask Bruce and Judy every year if Mary was coming back - she left such an amazing and upbeat impression. I had the extreme pleasure of being paired with Curtis and Mary in a golf event a couple of years ago. I always meant to contact them to tell them what an influence they had on my life. It was the most positive life-changing event for me. I was having difficulty in my personal life----and after meeting and spending 5 hours with them-----my life was changed forever. I am sad to hear of Mary's passing. She left a lasting impact on me....and I am sure many others.
