Graham was born and raised in the Fraser view area of Vancouver, BC where he met the love of his life at a very young age. The red fire hydrant there could tell the story. Graham went to school at Killarney and was well known for being the drummer in his band the “Fiery Escape”. Also being the boy who lived at the “Sunnyside Rest Home”.

In Graham’s early career he worked for Commercial Illustrators. In the late 1980s he changed his career path and was hired on as a Bus Driver for Translink (BC Transit).  He loved his job which is why he was given the nickname “Transitman”.  It was always a memorable bus ride if he was your driver. Graham decided to take an early retirement in 2014. After he retired, Graham and his wife enjoyed many road trips within BC, Washington, and Arizona. Trips to Mexico, Cuba, England, Scotland, and Ireland to name a few. Graham enjoyed special trips with his son and grandson to the Wolzen family cabin.

He was always very active. In his younger years Graham was dedicated to long distance running.  May 4th, 1986, he ran the Vancouver International Marathon in 3 hrs 38 minutes and 6 seconds.  He loved to go on hikes and walks. You would often see him riding his bike around town with his safety vest on and a big smile on his face. He enjoyed going to spin classes with his daughter and hitting up the local gym after to lift weights.

Graham was a loving husband. He was the best dad and an amazing Papa. “Papa G”. He touched many lives with his out of this world personality. He will be so missed.

Live, Love, Laugh.

Messages:

Just heard of Graham’s passing six months ago. Worked with him at CI for a number of years. Great guy, kind, considerate, the world needs more Grahams. He’ll be missed.

I was the lead/ rhythm guitar in "fiery escape". Good times I will never ever forget. I always regretted losing touch with the Guys. After my motorcycle accident at 17 everything changed. Still those summers spent in Grahams recently room were some of the most amazing times of my early childhood. We did it all and then some. See you at the Finnish line Graham. Until then rest in peace. Paul

Miss going to the gym without you. Condolences to the Hastie Miss you buddie

Very funny man, used to scare the crap out of me every time he saw me, he’d lay on the horn. Later he’d ride by and loudly pretend to be a car horn. I miss him in the neighborhood as well. Heartfelt condolences to his family

Jim and I miss him more than words can say. Our best memories of all time were when Graham and Janice and Jim and Valerie lived in our neighborhood. We were all best friends and every day spent together was a blessing. No shortage of laughs and love. We will miss G until the end of time but also have such wonderful memories of our lives together that we hold so dear. Love always to the Hasties. We are here for you always.

I love and miss you so much. You were the best father and my best friend. Life is strange without you but we will forever keep your memory alive. Love you Dad ❤️

I never met Graham, however heard many great stories from his daughter Michelle. “Be kind and gentle with yourself. Take your time and know that you have my full support.”
