September 1929 - February 2023
We are sad to announce the passing of our mom, June Lamond. She leaves behind her daughter Christine, son Jim Jr. & his wife Raj, grandchildren Colin & Kiran and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jim.
Married in 1960, June & Jim moved to Richmond in 1966 from Toronto. June was an incredible mother & wife who modeled care for her extended family and community. Self made, she was a DIY interior designer, entrepreneur, activist, and philanthropist. With no formal education, June was a businesswoman ahead of her time who opened two successful businesses in Steveston in the early 1980s: Thrifty Baby, then The Steveston General Store, serving the community for over 35 years with Christine. A lifelong volunteer, June's commitment to caring for others spanned over 60 years in multiple communities. An incredibly strong woman, her faith and belief in all people was evident through optimism and a caring touch. Thank you, Mom.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in June’s memory to: The SPCA or The Union Gospel Mission.
A celebration of life will be held on June 16, @ 2:00 at: The Heritage wing of South Arm United Church, Richmond, BC
Harry and Brigid Ghandan would like to convey their condolences to the Lamond family. Sorry we cannot attend the service on June 16 for your mother due to a medical appointment. However, we will continue to remember Jim and June in our prayers
