SMITH, Mildred

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Smith of Carstairs, Alberta on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the age of 92. Mildred was born in Calgary, Alberta on March 7, 1928 to George & Isabella Smith. Mildred was raised on a farm north east of Carstairs and rode her horse to the Davenport School & then finished High School in Carstairs. Mildred was a real farm girl, she loved all the animals and always had a variety of different ducks, peacocks & turkeys. She also spent a lot of hours in her large garden. In the spring you could find her out on the coulee hill looking for the first crocus buds.

Mildred married Lenard Smith in 1953 and had 65 great years together. They spent many hours playing cards with their grandchildren and many friends & neighbours.

Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Gwen (Duane) Trottier and family; Cristin (Vitali) Chloe, Paisley, Hudson, and Stephen (Nicole); son, Don (Karen) Smith and family; Shylo (Gerald) Landon, Jared, Dallas (Kate) Carson, Hayley & Sierra, Ashley and Cody.

Mildred is also lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law all from Ontario, Dora Lohnes, Helen Smith & Suzanne Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lenard; her brother, Stan (Lois); brothers-in-law, Walter (Marie), Elmer (Sarah), Clayton, Lee, Vernon and Carl.

A Private Family Gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mildreds memory may be made to the Bethany Care Centre in Didsbury, Alberta; 1201 15 Avenue, Didsbury, AB, T0M 0W0.
