Charles Barter

BARTER, Charles James (CJ)

1980-2020

It is with sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of CJ Barter, beloved husband, father, and son at his home in Airdrie Alberta.

Born in Newcastle NB on August 29, 1980, CJ was the son of Darlene Hare Kidd (Douglas) and Charles Barter (Kelly), Miramichi.  CJ will be  lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Christina (nee Ruffo); his wonderful children, son, Charlie and daughter, Charlotte; mother-in-law, Renate Groves (Danny); grandmother in-law, Oma Krusch, Ottawa; six sisters, Kara (Daniel Richard), Jessica Larry, Laura (Steven Ross), Devin Rae (Darcy Foran) all of Miramichi, Sara Kidd, Maine, Kayla (Travis Hodges) Grande Prairie; two brothers, William Kidd, Miramichi, Kyle (Erin), Grande Cache; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who CJ dearly loved.

CJ was predeceased by his great -grandmother, Nina (Harris) Parker; grandmother, Arlene (Hare) Mullin, Miramichi; and grandparents, James and Jennie Barter, Sydney NS.

CJ was a Fourth Class Power Engineer Red Seal/Industrial Instrument Mechanic Red Seal.  He began his career with Irving Oil (Power Plant Technician) in 2004 in Saint John, NB. In Saint John CJ met his wife and started his family.  In 2015 he moved to Airdrie, Alberta becoming the Canadian Gas Storage Manager, then South Cogeneration and Storage Manager at Trans Canada (TC) Energy.  CJ led with integrity and was beloved by his colleagues.

CJ enjoyed travel and the outdoors, loved his pets, physical fitness (member of South Paw Boxing Gym).  He shared his passion of boxing by coaching and being a corner man. He was an avid rugby player (member & former President of Saint John Trojans Rugby Club).  He loved coaching his children’s sports teams (AMHA minor hockey), and most of all having a good time with family, friends, and neighbours. He lived life to the fullest.  He had a heart of gold and was always willing to do whatever it took to make the people around him feel loved and happy.

His pride and joy was his family.   CJ was a devoted husband, father, and son.  He will be dearly missed by his wife Christina, and his two children Charlie & Charlotte, who he truly adored.

A Celebration of Life Memorial & Funeral to be announced at a later date.
